HookerDotGov 532
It pains me how much of a misfire Witness was. While Katy was doomed to flop after her successes, Chained to the Rhythm is such a solid single and had an amazing roll-out and aesthetics. Then there were some great album cuts like Roulette. Katy could've used some editing and better album visuals. The cover should have kept that pastel pallette from the CTTR video. Bon Apetit can stay as it is (minus Migos--and don't say this is a "meaninful pop" record right before dropping the song). Swish Swish should have had a better video--the comedy was cringe. She was just so all over the place that era.

Nikolai Barrow 1,337
The song is a total bop. But I find for a song that's supposed to be woke and have a message it's very vague about that message. All it says is things are bad in the world but never actually says what those things are . . .
steven 5,841
It feels weaker compared to her old hits but it's still better than Bon Appétit and Swiss Swiss cheese.

pop ate my heart 2,865
Tbh I was actually hyped for Katy's new stuff when this came out, and that's a first for me (and last). I though she was finally delivering something that's not dumb cheesy and generic as everything she ever did and was actually maturing as an artist. I was expecting an interesting conceptual pop record.. then everything else happened boy was I wrong am i-e-i-e-i-e-i-e-i-e-i-p-plastic

2School4Cool 6,397
It’s arguably my favorite song of hers! It took a little while to grow on me, but the best songs typically do. See The Best In Everyone
