Just my opinion. 1 minute ago, monster said: Literally tho. I don't hear miss germanotta popping whistle notes like miss carey.. Whistle notes are just a part of the "demanding vocals" category. She belts every chorus at the top of her voice. Also, it's a DANCE record and she never used her voice like this on a DANCE record.
Guest
To be honest though, I can't blame gaga for doing the things she does. If I had disrespectful messy fans you better believe that im smoking up a storm and drinking like its the end of the world.

Good vocals are not just making rat high-pitched noises (no shade for anyone), there are many more techniques that can be even more difficult to control than whistle notes 💜
xoxo Craig 55,649
Her vocals were tired during Enigma... a residency is tough... especially with all the alcohol and smoking. But her voice is much better now End Racism Now

Enigma, Plastic Doll, Fun Tonight and 1000 Doves (to an extent) I'd say have chorus vocals that could be considered 'belting' (see TEOG for the perfect example of that). I wouldn't say the other songs are anything vocally demanding. I'd say she has used her voice like she did on Chromatica before.. it's not a totally new vocal style / sound from her to me. Aphrodizy26 6
Yes. It happens every tour. Y’all were just so fixated on dragging her down at the time because y’all were so angry at the album being delayed. Every album, her range goes higher and higher and she really keeps pushing it with new techniques
blankpaper 21
It wasn’t as strained as you’re thinking it was, it just doesn’t sound right on videos taken on phones from the audience. I was at the last two Vegas shows and was specifically listening for it and she sounded way better than all the videos (including any I took myself those nights) reality’s tight if the music is right

I think she uses her chest voice in a very forceful way, which is part of what makes it demanding. Whistle tone isn’t the only challenging vocal. The belt she does on the hook for Enigma, for example, is a full body BELT while also employing vocal distortion. That’s a pretty difficult effect to achieve and that’s just one example. It wouldn’t really have an effect on anything, much less her voice.
