The trauma experienced by children of soldiers returning from WWII may have led to the serial killer wave of the 70s and 80s. And the longer they have been planning, the more victims there will likely be. Serial killers, along with most forms of violence, peaked in the 1980s in most of the Western world. But I think the dotcom boom of the 90s and 2000s created a paranoia within would-be killers that caused their activity to suspend, and transfer into other forms of malicious, online behaviour. And now that the digital world has been so normalised and politiced and legislated, and not the wild west or deep sea it once represented, killers are beginning to come out of their virtual dungeon, and starting to prowl the streets once again...
