Worst Chromatica lyric?

I feel like the verses in Enigma sound like a word salad for things that sound mysterious or cryptic. “Mystery man / woman phantom / Dragon’s eyes watch / goddess breathing” feel kinda incongruent to me. It’s one of the few songs that doesn’t really come alive until the chorus.

The verses in Plastic Doll veer into Katy Perry territory of sounding a bit too on the nose, but the whole song is ridiculous so I accept it.

Those are some of the coolest lyrics on the album. Certainly different to what's on radio. Won't catch Katy or Ariana singing mysterious lyrics like that, word salad or not. Like. I'd definitely take those lyrics over Plastic Doll tbh

'patch the line' - I literally thought she was singing 'pass the lime' first time I heard it.

I love it too but it's easily one of the worst ones lyrically speaking :rip:

I'm actually confused by how much praise this album gets for its lyrics when a lot of them seem too on-the-nose to me  but who am I to argue with praise :gayhat:

Probably because her lyrics have been a lot more questionable before lol

Don't know if i'll be wrong. But maybe by saying "16th century smile" she's talking about the fake smile that people give u when they're gossiping u know? Like Mona Lisa, a mystery smile that hides a lot. Something like that.

Could be that too... interesting :oprah:

where did she confirm it? :oprah:

it literally says on the literal album booklet and apple music that it's "before there was us, there was silence" which is confusing because it does actually sound like love

also it does make sense because she's referring to before the world was made - there was nothing which implies silence.

She said Lauv on the Apple interview with... I forget his name... ZANE, him :billie:

Well, the languages part is inherent to the story of the Tower of Babel. Also, ever heard of the Blood Moon? It’s a thing. It’s also a play-on-words, she likes to name drop her producers on tracks. Remember the « Nein Zedd! » in G.U.Y.

or the RED ONEEEE (convict) GA GA

i love her producer name drops lol

- These are actual lyrics. Mods don't come for me:gum:
