Lost N Conf 330
The monsters running into this thread to tell people their interpretation of music is wrong. Anyways I hear the sound you're talking about very electro-swing and the chorus synths remind me of brass instruments skipping.
zebrastripes 970
Definitely reminds me of Caravan Palace, an electroswing group.

It's a good job I have a good sense of humour because I was a bit shocked initially at some of the comments going straight for the "lol no you are wrong" attitude . I don't think my interpretation is out of touch with reality Maybe it's the way I wrote it though. Kind regards
julz 7,440
I hope Replay doesnt become Scheibe, and become recognized as a single, its radio friendly. The fact that there are different interpretations, make the song very interesting. And when it comes to conveying what the album is all about, it's up there. I just haven’t heard anyone relate it to jazz music any era. listen to swing specifically and maybe you'll get it. Or electro swing as some have pointed if you want something more similar to Replay rather than the jazz/swing alone. Kind regards
Flawless 2,234
I really hear that too. It's right before the beat drops, when she sings "I don't know what to do you don't what to say" the scars on my mind are on replay.
Emvee 8,500
Ohhh yeah! I hear it now too lol. Honestly, people are sleeping on Replay. Edit: The disco elements are undeniable, but yes I hear it in the chorus.
Ronnie 6,044
If this masterpiece doesn’t get a dazzling disco-esque Studio 54 visual, I will be PIZZAZZED!
joannesrats 26
Well......definitely not swing. swing requires a triplet division and this entire album is in 4/

I didn't say Replay was swing, but to me (and others on this thread) it has a swing influence: If I had to compare to something more recent I'd say Electro Swing. It's all in that rich beat drop section which has a hauntingly low quality brassy synth in the forefront. Which is the most important part/hook of the song and it's introduced slowly in the "I don't know what to do..." It's like a repeated sample from an old record or something played through a gramophone. I'm not saying it is a old record sample but that I feel it's the sound they were going for. Also the vinyl rewinds/ stops are very Electro Swing when mixed with that instrumentation. Kind regards

It is literally like an old record/sample on replay/skipping. Lou Bega is shook It's jazzy and spooky I love the song more and more honestly and I'm thinking it could be a single. Can you imagine releasing it around Halloween? EDIT FOR THE LITTLE DOUBTSTERS WHO ARE ENTITLED TO THEIR OPINION: that main high pitched instrument you hear during the instrumental section/beat drop to me sounds like a brass instrument on an old record. I'm not saying it is but it's like they were going for that sound. And the beat/bass combination is very swingy to me. This is just the main influence I'm getting from the song. I understand why you say that. The song has a jazzy lascivious characteristic while it meets end-70ies disco elements. I even already heard it has Russian folklore elements which comes from the rattling instrumental - because in Russian traditional songs a rattling instrument is often used. For me it has because of its structure something futurtistic - when we see there a jazz element, a Russian instrumental character and a end 70ies production than i understand why it sounds so futuristic for me. It is a electronic piece of art which is build up from different elements - it doesn't matter whether consciously or not. It has something interesting per se and hope it will be a single. Maybe next year. A Lady Gaga needs Replay in her single discography 🤎
