They were expecting such massive overflow that Trump contemplated staging it at a larger, outdoor venue, then decided to do an indoor and outdoor speech instead. The overflow was non-existent (thus the outdoor speech was cancelled), the floor space wasn’t at capacity and almost all of the upper level seats were empty. For a president that boasts about the power of the silent majority, tonight did not make a strong case for him. Not to mention that the million requests is largely a fluke, given a viral campaign to overinflate ticket estimations by requesting tickets and not attending. They’re clearly massively insecure about the turnout, given that Trump’s campaign already put out a statement blaming protestors for the lack of turnout, even though Secret Service and the National Guard blocked off a MASSIVE parameter surrounding the venue, essentially to dissuade protestors and ‘agitators’; also most of the stores in downtown Tulsa boarded up and closed for the weekend...they were very clearly expecting this to be a thunderous roar and it was tremendously underwhelming compared to what was forecast. They even had an overflow planned outside that they had to immediately dismantle because barely anyone came. The ticket requests were TikTok & Twitter users that just wanted to troll Trump. They had a whole segment about how empty the arena is, and at the end cut in footage of him saying something like "more testing leads to finding more cases, so I said we gotta reduce the testing" someone at 3 News hates Trump (well not really I guess, they were just reporting what actually happened and was said by him) I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
