I am not being sarcastic at all!

I love SC but because it is more of a House song than other Kpop songs.

Most of Kpop that I tried to hear sounds nice but I don’t find it exceptionally amazing.

visually their videos are but other than that they seem like normal boy or girl pop groups (One direction or Fifth Harmony)

COME ON GAYS!!

personally I think it has something to do with representation

like there are lots of Asian teens all over the world so I guess they connect with K-Pop stars in a bigger way than with Caucasian looking stars?

I'm not saying only Asians are into K-Pop, but a huge chunk of their fans are probably coming from Asia me thinks :oprah:

I'm Asian myself btw, and growing up I saw a lot of my classmates being into K-Pop, and I didn't really get the appeal at the time, but I caught up later :flower:

Because it’s funded and organised by the Korean government as a way to change the image the world has of Korea. The KPOP groups aren’t organic, they’re all very carefully created to form the “perfect” pop group. That’s why the MVs always have huge budgets and kpop seemingly appeared from nowhere and is so universally loved.

Kpops always been huge. It’s only recently been blowing up in western markets. Asians staying ahead of the curve per usual :whitney:

but i think culturally, fandoms are a really big part in people’s identity nowadays and kpop definitely breeds that culture. Plus it’s a bit nostalgic because boy bands and girl groups and the way they’re marketed in kpop harkens back to the 90s and 2000s and when music was just upbeat and fun and there was so much content to engage with

it didn't appear from nowhere

it was making waves all the way since early 00's, at least from what I remember

and creating the perfect "pop" group image thing can as easily be applied to the Western pop groups. it's music business, I think it's not really that different whether it's Asian or Western - they are all in it for the money.

Cuz Asia is a HUGE market and they are the most hardcore fans in the world due to the highly competitive culture of being the best KPOP group and fans want to represent their devotion for their fave...

American fans can't relate and neither can the rest of the world lol

It is different than western pop groups because the band members are carefully selected based on things like personality charts, how well their personality types gel together and what personality types are attractive to the general public. The creation of a kpop group is very calculated, and then they’re put through YEARS of insane training until they are “perfect” enough to  debut. they are scientifically more likely to be popular based on all the things considered during the “casting” process.

Irrelevant

about that they're just like 1D or 5H, I would like to disagree :poot: 1D and 5H are so much more bland than kpop, from their music production, videos, and especially their performances. Little Mix is more comparable to kpop groups. of course this is just my biased opinion but I stand by it :ally:
