HEARTSTOP

Well we had everyone rushing to the southern beaches during the hot Easter, with the false pretense that they had family here. People were still renting their holiday houses on Airbnb, saying that they were 100% safe and needed because some health workers might need them (falsely of course because all they wanted was insane amounts of money for the Easter holidays), or doing it in "secret" through Facebook groups/chats and other platforms.

Considering Easter was soon followed by 2 big national holidays where everyone seemed to be so patriotic that they had to go to the streets and celebrate in giant groups (usually most people don't care for these holidays, they just like the day off from work), this does not surprise me at all.

Airports just opened, hotel pools and beaches are crammed to the brim, just wait a couple weeks and you'll see...I am foreseeing a second lockdown around September or so.

EDIT: By the way, it's at 69 cases from this party alone so far.

At least 36 People are confirmed to have gotten Covid-19 from a really large house party in the southern region of Portugal in Algarve

The short article in link above doesn't go into a tone of details but according to the news on TV from "RTP International" the police caught a very large house party with over 100 people

Though it was broken up it was too late and based on testing done after, the party caused a local outbreak

UPDATE: 90 people infected from this party (so far).

I assume that includes indirect cases from people who weren't at the actual party?

well we all know there could be a hundred people in the room and 99 don't have covid but all it takes is one person, to infect :trollga:

Everything could be everything (it could mean anything)

Yes, including indirect cases but most were there so far, as it's harder to detect all the other people who they had contact with after, or they haven't developed symptoms yet etc. Even more so because they clearly don't care who they have contact with, so lots of unsuspecting people might be contaminated without knowing it, or knowing it was because of these fools.

At the risk of stereotyping my own race and offending anyone... Here in Canada (at least in my area) Portuguese people are among the ones taking it the least seriously and be like "if I get it I get it, it's a flu" and carry on life like nothing has happened :ladyhaha:

People here are usually like that, it's a true stereotype. That's why I was so surprised that we dealt with it so well during the emergency state. People were mostly following the rules, besides those I mentioned before during the holidays. But then they lifted some restrictions and moved on to calamity state, and suddenly everyone acts like nothing's going on. It's weird.

Honestly, me personally, I also don't care if I get it. However, I still stay home all day, and use my mask to go anywhere public, not meeting friends etc, just in case I could have/get it and then pass it onto another person.

I guess what people really don't care about is others, and we all know "it only happens to others".

COOOK

It angers me so much how the majority of people are acting like this pandemic never happened, doing things exactly like they did before, putting everyone at risk, especially the elderly...

Der Meister

I just love these fake news stories of "x" amount of people got infected after attending a party, as IF they were about to die. Did they even get tested? Pretty sure all of the guests simply wouldn't go and get tested right after the party was finished unless they really got severe symptoms. People don't even do that after sex to see if they got AIDS.
