I love it! Just curious to see how they would look in real life. I like the sketches better most of the time

Designers "should not" be doing sketches with incorrect proportions. Fact.

Women are not plastic dolls.

Designers are artists just like anyone other, you didn't see Picasso using correct proportions :triggered:

Fashion illustrations are meant to open to the designers interpretation. If you see an in-proportionate sketch and think "that's how my body should look" then that's a you problem.

they would look amazing if done high quality ofc (same quality as TFMB), would look a mess if they have the same quality as Enigma Show. But, I would LOVE to see her Mugler Sailor Moonesque Pig Tails

It’s not about the bodies, fashion sketching is an art, and the proportions are to accentuate the outfits’ features. Y’all are too much

But clothes are worn on people's bodies. What good does it do anyone to accentuate leg length 2/3 of body height when almost zero people have that proportion.  For bespoke items, there is zero excuse for inaccurate proportions.

That's like saying that mannequins and hangers don't show off a realistic image of body type. Fashion sketches, mannequins and hangers all exist as a way to show off clothing weather for design concept, construction guideline or even sale. Plus, not even clothing designer has taken figure drawing and anatomy - doing properly proportioned people isn't easy, so exaggerating all features and distorting it from reality helps avoid making a figure look off or wrong and keeps focus JUST on the clothes. Most fashion sketches don't even have faces drawn in properly as well just as an extra step to avoid any focus being on anything else besides the clothes.

You just contradicted yourself. Distorting figure features is what makes clothing look off and wrong.

Also, mannequins typically wear clothing sold in the store and are proportioned correctly for actual people.

That’s not a contradiction. It’s not about showing the clothing 1:1 in proportion, like I said the clothing is supposed to be focus on as a design and construction aspect like I said. The points where things end still match up to actual body points so those are the guidelines, the extended parts give more room to draw and prevent things from looking unclear - sketches are usually small so longer limbs means more room to draw the details. An example is if you have horizontal bands of designs and patterns if it is an elongated limb than you have  more room to clearly show how you intended the design to work. A line drawn on paper may not seem thick, but the more detailed the drawing is the more space you need otherwise everything gets stacked and overlaid. Obviously there’s more work done after the initial sketches, but they exists as a proof of concept essentially and need to have certain things shown easily. You’ll also notice that the thinnest of thin arms and legs usually end up on dresses and sleeveless garments, usually because they are there because as odd as it sounds the limbs are an after thought.

Mannequins are also not all accurate size at all, I have worked at many clothing stores and used mannequins for projects even. The most typical ones I deal with had extremely long necks to show off Jewelery better, overly long legs that often were about 6 inches longer at the ankle than needed and waists that were smaller than a 00 - so all outfits were strategically pinned to make it look like the outfit will fit on someone.

Either way the point is - these are sketches. These aren’t a body image campaign. Nor are they used for marketing. They are images drawn by people designing clothes who have no real background in anatomy or figure drawing. The only thing they seek to accomplish is show clothing designs, nothing more nothing less.
