Fun Tonight's production ruins the song

I agree with the OP. The production is weak compared to the others songs. Maybe Gaga was tired at some point and she asked Bloodpop to use free music samples from Garageband. :oprah:

Fun Tonight is a decent song to me. It has potential to be a great song but yes, the production is way too basic for the excellent writing

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

REALITY

The :applause: point  :applause: of  :applause: the  :applause: song  :applause: is  :applause: to  :applause: build  :applause: up  :applause: and  :applause: have  :applause: it  :applause: go  :applause: nowhere  :applause:

If y'all are offended that the song builds up and doesn't have a "proper chorus," THAT'S THE POINT!

With a song title like "Fun Tonight," you'd expect it to be a fun, upbeat, energetic song about partying and hanging out with people, but it's the opposite. Externally, she builds herself up to have a fun night; she wants to just be around people she loves and adores, but reality sets in and, for her, things turn dark and somber quick. That's literally why the lyrics, "this moment's hijacked my plans" are there. She plans to have fun, she wants to enjoy herself, she wants to build herself up, but sometimes all that is stalled by her depression and anxiety.

When people say, "Ew, I don't like FT. It doesn't go anywhere, the production's bland," I just think to myself, "Do y'all understand what the song's even about? :smh:

Fun Tonight is definitely one of my fave songs from Chromatica but I feel like the final chorus needs more.

I think the way the production is forces you to listen to her words rather than focus on the beat, the way everything fades away and it's just Gaga belting sends me tbh. It does sound nice mashed up here with TEOG however. The kick drums from the btw era production are monotonous af tho. I appreciate the subtle production on fun tonight

It's just my opinion – I don't disagree with the song's message and the idea of it not being energetic, I just think some of the production isn't well executed and doesn't do justice to her voice or the lyrics

I prefer the album version

but the build up became the chrous is kinda cold !

Is like what they do for ROM, build up became the final chrous

well in both songs the build ups are the chorus' the lack of drums just makes them feel different, it happened a lot in the 2010's especially in Dr Luke and Max Martin songs as well as some Gaga songs such as Aura and Applause

Der Meister

The problem about Chromatica is that Gaga made the demos (some of them leaked and sound much better than the album versions), sent them to DJs to remix the songs, she liked them and put them in the album.

Gracious Gaga

I think this is true for about half the songs on the album.  It needed edgier and more cutting edge production.  The production for most tracks is rather basic :(

but fun tonight would only make sense as a ballad- not an upbeat fun dance song.

It doesn't solve the song's "problem" (in quotes cause it's far from my own opinion), most people complain the drop after the chorus is "disappointing"

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

Chromatography

the biggest problem with chromatica is the production, wbk.
