The fact that they completely ignored The Weeknd :billie:

I'm glad they gave Green Day credit. Their new album is great.

Waxahatchee is a great indie band, and I'm glad they scored so high on the list.

Chromatica needs to be at least Top 3, though. :huntyga:

I don't think SAWAYAMA is that good or groundbreaking tbh. It is a very solid pop album and deserved a higher placement, but 10x better than chromatica? nah, don't even think it's better than Chromatica.

LOL i love gaga & chromatica so much but this isn't tfm/btw we're talking about. sawayama is definitely better as an album and even more outstanding coming from a underground new artist. i think chromatica was mixed better tho but sawayama has the higher highs and basically no lows.

Also, I just want to say this... I admire and respect Fiona Apple as an artist, and I think she's crafted some amazing songs...

But her new album is a CHOICE. :wtf:

The interesting melodies and clever lyrics of her previous albums aren't present. It just feels like this album has been overhyped beyond belief by critics because it's something "new" and "different."

Even Tori Amos's weaker late 00's-10's releases are better than this, and she still doesn't even have a Grammy. :wtf:

what do you think are the best songs on the album? 3-4 or however many you think encapsulate it

Is Kesha on it?

edit: she is. Somewhere between 16 and 20

“On High Road, Kesha wants to have it both ways — she sings about her therapist and tarot readings and her aura, but she’s also back to clubbing with a vengeance. She recently said, “To quote one of my favorite songs of all time, I’ve decided to ‘fight for my right to party!’” “Tonight” begins as an earnest hymn, with Elton John-style piano and 2010-vintage AutoTune. (It sounds a nostalgic trick at this point, like John Lennon using his “Elvis echo” to resemble his Fifties rockabilly heroes.) Then Kesha turns down the piano, cranks up the beatbox, and starts to rap: “I don’t give a **** ‘cause I am so high/Me and all my girls are looking so fly.” Damn, it’s good to have this Kesha back. We missed her, right? R.S.”

Were Rolling Stones passing kidney stones while reviewing? This listicle makes as much sense as a female testicle :bye:

honestly all the songs are bops and equally define the sound of the album, but my personal favourites would be: XS, Bad Friend, Chosen Family, STFU

I hate how you never know how editors approach a list like this. Is this sincerely what the writers were into? I hope so. The boys club in music journalism is UNENDURABLE, and many of them absolutely let their chauvinism run the show when they're in charge of what music a publication spotlights, what it allows its writers to do, etc.

I think this list looks pretty damn good, though. Anything with Fiona at #1 and Gaga in the top 10 is a good selection to me...
