Why doesn’t Alice have a 2nd verse?

Interesting how both the song structures you listed have equal number of parts :neyde:

I think it's amazing her doing things differently, we are so used to the pattern and don't appreciate another structures.

How is that? Rain on me has a typical pop song structure. If you're referring to the ending which sounds like a post chorus, basically gaga made that as outro

the verses dont have the same melody / structure (usually they mirror each other)

also, the chorus at first sounds like a pre chorus, then the beat drop, at the end both the beat drop and the prechorus are juxtaposed to sound like a chorus. also the last chorus is modified and longer.

Cause second verse was Ari

In the leaked solo demo, second verse has same melody as per first verse. Most of the times collab artist adds their own touch to the sound, hence a different verse is normal.

The prechorus is brilliant though. I do agree that the 3 choruses (including the drop) of ROM sounds different :hor:

Tbh the biggest disappoint for me was that Alice didnt start of slow. I wish she had started with a darker more subdued beat coming in after the strings and the very first lines of the album should've been "Could you pull me out of this alive" (instead of jumping into the chorus from the first second)

We don’t need music to be formulaic all the time to enjoy it for what it is! I really enjoy how she switched it up for Chromatica with different song structures, the fade ins and all the unique embellishments that make it less predictable.

I view Alice, along with Sour Candy, as almost interlude-ish. It sounds a lot better that way.

Replay without those fade-ins/stutters transitioning between verses/choruses would literally be just another Charlie Puth song

I feel like its pretty rare to have a second verse that doesn't sound like the first one. its an interesting choice though

You’re right, it’s not common, but I know it’s happened before (I’m struggling to think of an example off the top of my head). Like I said, I could be wrong!

Why you bothered? Charlie Puth is super talented and makes good music IMO. He has so much soul!

Didn't the producers say in that recent interview how they really wanted to structure the album like an electronic album rather than a pop album? More than any of her previous albums, I feel like one of Chromatica's main characteristics is that it has some unusual structures.

That and the fact that the label probably asked them to keep it short.

I want a full bridge with that pre chorus.

A dark voice singing "OH MA MAMA OH MA MAMA!! OH MA MOTHER OH MA MOTHER" :gayhat:

Why the f- didn't they repeat that AMAZING pre-chorus?

I didn't ask for a free ride, I only asked you to show me a real good time.

If that! I mean I really don't mind the structure of the songs, if the only reason behind that is Gaga's will to give us something less similar to the usual to-go pop albums.

But after hearing the full demo of ROM and Free Woman, I feel like she shortened the songs for whatever reason (stream-value)? If that's the case then I want the full Chromatica experience :neyde:
