One, two, cha cha cha...

It's already been 1 full year since the release of Madonna's fourteenth studio album: Madame X!:tony: The highly anticipated #1 album came out on June 14th 2019 and was yet another musical direction for Madonna. It's her most experimental pop record in years. It has influences from art pop, world music, Latin music and is heavily inspired by Portugal. The leadsingle "Medellín" ft. Maluma came out two months prior and several songs got released afterwards counting towards the album release. The album gots mixed reviews from fans and critics, but is often praised to contain some of her best work in recent years and it's clear vision.

I still think Medellin is a fantastic song, I absolutely love it and play it still today. The rest of the album wasn't to my taste, but I appreciate her taking a different direction and exploring with her sound again.

Its just so damn interesting! I don't know another song that sounds like it at all, and the images in the music video I just think are so fantastical and fairytale-like it just transports me, plus her vocal delivery is lovely on every single bit!

Spoiler

Also, I can't deny the fact that I'm a messy bottom and hearing Maluma on the track makes me melt every single time. I wish I was the one sucking his toe....

I love this album so much, listened to it for months. I can't believe it's only been one year though, I thought it was released a year and a half but yeah, this corona virus thing is making me feel like Parasite winning Best Picture was also a year ago.

Anyway, a very underrated Madonna album. I can see why some people were turned off by the autotune but I guess that is Mirwais' style and I enjoyed it, a very unique Madonna album.

Yess couldn't agree more:golfclap:

I get why people can be turned off by that too (and that much autotune is a hit or miss for me too) but it didn't bother me at all on Madame X! I actually loved it. But I'm a huge fan of Mirwais work with Madonna in general (American Life being my second favourite Madonna album) so maybe that's why I liked it so much:diane:

It’s top 3 for me in her discography. It’s ambitious, creative, bold, meaningful. Some of her best visuals in more than a decade, and a return to form. After a creative drought from Hard Candy to Rebel Heart, it’s so refreshing to see Madonna’s creativity reinvigorated and back to what she’s known for, albums with amazing concepts.

I just never understand those who dare say she’s not as creative or ambitious or bold with her music as she once was, when this album as right there.

Top 3: Looking For Mercy, Faz Gostoso, Extreme Occident

I've made my own version of Medellin with more chorus and less Maluma and it's so cool ! I don't like the other songs.

Such an amazing album, and so under-appreciated for sure :applause:

it might not be perfect and it sure has it’s clumsy moments, but it’s definitely top tier Madonna for me

the tour was incredible too, I loved seeing her in such a small space and felt super intimate

who will love me when the night is over

I love ‘Madame X’ and it has a special place in my heart, because I had the opportunity to see performances of most the songs live on its tour and Madonna (for the first time) in such an intimate way I never thought I would ever experience.

The portuguese inspired concept is so amazing and as a brazilian, it really felt special and familiar to me.

It’s been one whole year that I’ve explored new music genres like Brazilian funk, fado, morna, and batuque  great music from all around the world that I wouldn’t have been blessed to discover had Madonna not used those influences for MX  I loved every song on first listen except for IDSIF. The Honey Dijon remix really outdid the original  :teehee:

I totally slept on Rebel Heart, but when I first saw the cover for Madame X I thought "Oh, this one truly feels interesting".

And I wasn't wrong at all.

I looooooooved it from first hearing, it's everything I wanted to hear from her again :tony: I felt it was such a bold yet cohesive concept she had with this era. And I love how the album name somehow relates with her own name.

I love the aesthetics, very dark and alternative and not so "mainstream".

I instantly fell in love with Crave and thought THIS ALBUM IS A MUST HAVE :excited2: Also, as a latin, I found myself very pleased with the sharp latin influences she served on this music.

It's so easy for me to listen from beginning to end, it is truly interesting! (In fact I listened to it in full just this week)

AND THE VISUALS, THE MUSIC VIDEOS :nooo::nooo:

My favs are definitely: Crave, God Control, Crazy, Killers Who Are Partying and Faz Gostozo.

The Batuka video it's also cute! OMG the cultural crossover :flutter:

Queen of reinvention DID THAT after almost fourty years of music career :legend:
