I wish John Wayne was released as a single. In this case, PI is the more polished and more commercial than DH. DH sounds rough and kind of "weak" production wise. Her voice on DH isn't polished to sound more easy either. I LOVE PI, but let’s not act like it’s one of her best singles. It only charted as high as it did because of the fans. Can anyone explain why she never performed it in the US (aside from tour dates)? She definitely had many radio interviews but never promoted it beyond that? The only performance I remember was the Japan one, where she performed it acoustic on the piano. She did SNL the week the album was released but performed A-YO and Million Reasons. And obviously we know she sung MR many many many times after that..... Truly, Dancin’ in Circles should’ve been the lead. Seriously. Diamond Heart wouldn't have had a chance on pop radio. They would've had to pull some Cederic Gervais unnecesary remix-type shenanigans. I think a lot of ther reason why Joanne ended up so weird (for lack of a better word, because I genuinely enjoy it and don't think its a bad album or anything) is that there seemed to be a lot of label interference with it - like them literally sending Bloodpop to her. I think they were trying get a more obvious radio and streaming hit on the album, when the album really didn't lend itself well to Top 40, hence the label placing all their faith in PI for lead single (it was slim pickings in that regard).
