To me this doesn't makes sense at all The whole album is about mental health, trauma, healing through music, battling for your life, it doesn't makes any sense to close the album randomly throwing shade at Madonna My crown is black, like the soul of fame

Aphrodizy26 6
Okay but in all seriousness I feel like she’s addressing so much. it could primarily be about the born this way/EY controversy (her and madge are friends now, so it could be a campy parody of the situation) it could be to her fans, or stans relationships in GENERAL with their favs it could be about her personal experience with gossip it could be more rooted in the industry I think regardless though, that “rip that song” like sticks out to me the most. I feel like Gaga also may have always wanted to make a track you can vogue too, but knew it would strike nothing but madge comparisons. Hence making it a parody a little bit. (But also i am in no way comparing the two - vogue music is a very specific style of music)

The Madonna vs. Gaga narrative has been put to rest. She was literally talking about hanging out with Madonna after the Oscars, and they very obviously are friends at this point. Gaga would be about ten years too late if this was a diss to Madonna.

But it’s no coincidence that the production channels Vogue so closely and the song is about gossip and battling for your life. There’s something Madonna related in there, whether is a commentary on the media and pop music or Madonna herself, I can’t say.

Massive Monster 5,003
I think there's definitely a cheeky game with that "rip that song" lyric... she knows that the song sounds like Vogue by Madonna. I love Babylon by the way. Kind regards

I mean, she literally sings "Money don't talk, rip that song" . But imo, it's about her being sick of all the gossip that's going around about her all the time and to shut it out of her life, she dances to loud music like a m*t*e*fvcking runway model Ew, David!
