sillynate 6,170
Honestly, it’s kinda off topic somewhat but I would’ve preferred if we got another “stripped down” (just using more real instruments instead of computer generated sounds) album just so it’d be 4 & 4 TF, TFM, BTW, AP CTC, J, ASIB, 4th stripped down album but that’s just me
2School4Cool 6,434
I could be way wrong here, maybe I was ignorant while in my Joanne-adoring state of mind, but I don’t remember the album as a whole getting hate, I thought I general it was received and people felt it was a good pallet cleanser. I know not all fans loved it because they missed the electronic music. Either way, it’s still my favorite album of hers, I would hope it would be well received! Doot 2
Eh. I feel like C2C and Joanne had to come after ARTPOP because she still needed to change her image, but not in the norm we were used to from her (going from album to album). The GP needed to see what we all (mostly) as a fanbase thought would never come. Joanne, imo, was the second part of a complete sound and visual change (the first being C2C), which made the GP go "hmm this is different, I'm not sure I understand." ASIB was what really sealed the deal with the GP. It made up their minds. But as time passed, this newfound appreciation of her caused many people to look at and respect her previous material more. And then genuinely became nostalgic for the earlier style. Because now they could appreciate that. Chromatica is in a way a nostalgic throwback to her earlier stuff. Not that it's a rehash, but enough to hit the feels. I'll be very curious to see what image and musical direction and goes into next.
Guest Adarsh
Are we forgetting that Joanne was a stepping stone that lead to ASIB? I mean see how similar they are sonically. It’s obvious that it had something to do with ASIB’s sound.
macca 1,318
Absolutely not. Half the songs on this album is pure filler.
