I worked at McDonald’s few years ago and we couldn’t wear ANYTHING other than the uniform and that’s not because they don’t necessarily support the movement.. There was the national holiday and the McDonald’s hosted the themed party in 2015 and people still couldn’t wear anything other than the uniform. It’s just a workplace and uniforms are uniforms. Explain why they can paint their store in rainbows and wear gay pride pins and support pride month but they can’t support BLM ? imagine two ppl work at Starbucks. One is white gay, the other is black heterosexual. The white gay gets to wear a pride but but the black guy cant wear a BLM pin? ♥ Kindness Police. Starbucks has been very political in the past with its "holiday" cups and its public support for political issues like gay rights. It's different than having your employees wear it. They know if they use pride advertising during pride months, the gays feel comfortable buying from them and they feel validated. It's all about representation and imagery. Starbucks is trying to make money. In short, LGBTQ support = money Right now, BLM movement is too new and the country as a whole is unclear of their agenda. (Why we had people asking what the goal of the protesters was ) Starbucks thinks BLM support may be too divisive right now and they will lose sales from their southern states and more conservative locations. Thanks, this better sums up my point for most people I never worked anywhere I had to wear a uniform, but definitely worked places where I couldn't wear anything in support of anything political. Yes. I mean BLM movement is for basic human rights and is not political. Someone said they allowed LGBT signs to be shown so I honestly don’t get it now. I have never gotten in trouble for wearing political slogans at my workplaces and so many small businesses I support are vocally pro LGBTQ & anti racist and are not afraid of ‘alienating’ customers.
