So no, its nothing to do with how much 'American' media you consume. Its wrong regardless what country you are from and racism happens everywhere

I didn't say racism isn't wrong, and that it doesn't happen everywhere, because it is, and it does. But don't go around calling everything you see "blackface" just because it reminds you of it. It actually just dillutes its negative significance instead of helping the cause.

Not everyone painting their faces black is trying to make fun or oppress black people. 

However, in this case, it is cringeworthy and even problematic, but mostly because they are using a "trend" to divert attention from black voices and put it onto themselves, effectively appropriating the cause for their own benefit.

But its the idea of it and the fact it does remind people of other races mocking black people. It might not be their intention to offend, but painting your face or whole body black is blackface REGARDLESS of the intention behind it. Everyone should know that painting your face is blackface and people will take offence to it, regardless of the intention behind it. Its ignorant and racist.

Ive never really understood the context or reasoning why people get upset about blackface. Ive also not done any research on it. Can someome explain w/o yelling at me? Ive never felt the need to or have a desire to do it but I'm apparently not up on all the possible social wrongs these days.

This is all contextual.  

Black face doesn't exist in any historical narrative in overwhelming majority of the world outside colonizers and now-independent colonial nations. For instance, black face is offensive in United States because of its history. Such history doesn't exist in many countries like Russia, Turkey etc etc. 

To these people, it's a way of showing solidarity. If you didn't notice, they all have captions in foreign languages, I'm seeing one Turk, one Polish, one some sort of other slavic nation etc etc. These people are not from english speaking world or from any other colonial nations that have the same historical context about black face. 

Watch Trevor Noah's (a half-black South African comedian) talk about n-word from one of his stand-up comedies. It'll put things into perspective.
