Yeah it's dumb of people to even suggest this. What's worse is that they're calling it "defund police". Most americans will think that democrats want to disband police departments and have lawlessness in the streets.

Democrats have been shooting themselves in the foot. If Trump gets a second term it'll be because of this stupidity and poor messaging.

Its pretty interesting to read the whole file, theres some pretty interesting bits, Trump is doing bad in pretty much every question.

Regarding police, "defund it" was an idea that was dead on arrival, so its not surprising. But reforms like banning neck restraints, having cops use body cams, an early warning system for problematic cops and better training in deescalation are highly supported in this poll.

Lion Heart

It's political suicide to run on 'defunding' the police outside of some ultra-liberal districts.

Yeah the view had a discussion about terminology on this that I agreed with

Only an idiot would think getting rid of police is a good idea.. these libs literally have brain tumours. Punishment and making them accountable is fine. But without Police there would be crime and riots everywhere and only innocent people will have to pay for it.

I support shifting some of the responsibilities to other departments tho. For example having a type of social worker trained for mental health calls would probably make more sense than full geared police that are more expensive to run for example

Who according to u will respond in cases when an active shooter enters a mall or school or college and wants to play some PUB G ? :enigma:

honestly... longer and better training + more body cams + a system that holds them to account would only cost more money. the only loss of money would be the demilitarization which would probably be dwarfed by the other costs, so... yeah

dumb slogan

What happens when the mental health call needs an intervention. She would call the actual police and wait?

It means that the social worker who will respond to mental health calls will have to be trained just like regular officers. So it wont be called the police, but it will be the police. It is stupid. It will probably cost more and be less effective than reforming, retraining / training better the police.

Trump wont be the only one who seeks another mandate in november. If Democrats dont get the Senate and keep the House, the Republicans will block everything again.

It's good that at least Biden said from the start that he's against defunding the police.

They literally deal with difficult situations like that already in hospitals. I've been hospitalized for mental health twice before. I've seen people in way worse shape than me that had total meltdowns and the health professionals were trained to deal with it

Of course from time to time a severe case that may require a cop may arise but in such rare cases they can always be called

But proper reforming is a possible solution. It's just that I question how much it will really do cuz law enforcement seems to attract a certain personality of people. So the fewer responsibilities they have the better in my opinion

There's things u can't replace officers in but to whatever extent possible I don't see why not. Cuz I think there will always be limits to what reforms can do because of the nature of people that wanna be police officers. I'm not saying all but a lot of them are agressive and jackasses by nature
