Feline 622
I think the choice was made because is a recognizable Gaga look and this message is meant to be seen by a broad mass of people (I’m not from the us, but class of 2020 sounds large ) that may not be familiarized with her recent looks. Judas is her most watched video up to today from the BTW era on YouTube.
Franch Toast 26,868
I mean, I have no idea what was going through her mind, obviously, but I thought it was a strategic look because one, it made her more relatable to younger people, and two, she was talking about activism, and that outfit to me says "fighter." There's no way though that the "Judas" allusion didn't occur to her though – isn't it even the same (I don't mean that exact one, but one like it) bandana? Glamourpuss 29,062
I think she wore that outfit because it's a Born This Way look and she wanted to emulate the spirit of that because she was delivering an inspirational speech to graduates.

pop ate my heart 2,865
5 minutes ago, Yxilon said: you are right, I forgot Aura is pretty sociopolitical too Yeah I mean, she explained the line saying that people always think EVERYTHING she wears is an artistic statement, which is true a lot of times, but other times not so much. It's her wearing what she feels to wear in the moment as anybody else, but, as she lives her life and sees everything through an artistic eye/state of mind, it comes off that way, and people take everything she does as a cryptic message. This adds to the overall message of the song, talking about how people percieve her and what she does, while claiming that she is her art and what she wears. She doesn't hide behind makeup and clothes, she IS the clothes, the makeup, the Aura Edit: srry, I got carried away lol am i-e-i-e-i-e-i-e-i-e-i-p-plastic
gagasicebath 2,340
I was surprised, I expected her to show up in her glasses and jacket, WHO press conference style. I wonder if she changed what she planned to wear when she wrote a new speech to talk about the more recent events. I mean, we’ll never know, obviously... It definitely felt like a warrior kind of outfit choice which I think worked for the passionate message she was delivering.

Genuine Guy 09 13,941
This was a good interpretation - there's definitely judas in this outfit - however I put it down to it being black (for black lives matter) and 'Born This Way' = message of acceptance - rather than narrowing it down to it being specifically from Judas Stare at the Chartster in the mirror they talk to me too. #StreamFunTonight
