Yxilon 5,248
(disclaimer: sorry for bad english AND sorry if my opinion, which comes from an external pov because I do not live in the US, may come across as controversial or disrespectful) I may probably be wrong, but to me the choice of her outfit looks very purposeful and not random at all. She never referenced this kind of outfit since 2012. So here is my interpretation: "But in the cultural sense, I just speak in future tense" These are probably the only lyrics in Gaga's whole discography in which she sings about her wanting to change the culture surrounding her and her power to do so, speaking in future tense, therefore inspiring and anticipating what she wants for the future of her world, culturally. Of course she sung about political issues in Come To Mama, Angel Down, Born This Way etc but this sentence from Judas is the only time she explicitly wrote something that was intended as a firsthand political and cultural intent, which is well expressed in her speech through the forest metaphore. (she also did it on ARTPOP the song, but that matter was more philosophical and didn't concern politics or "concrete" issues). She also talked about faith. We all know Gaga believes in the christian God, but while she is not only "open minded to different views and people's religions" she made an extra statement during the speech, saying that divine grace cannot be manipulated by us, and divine grace is only translated in us as faith which is interior to ourselves and not external, thus her statement is: believing in God or whatever it is helps ourselves in developing a kind spirit and go through hard times making the difference and changing the future for the better. In retrospective, Judas was actually a critic towards people whom use their religion as a justification in order to validate all of these issues that surround bad christianity istances such as conservatorism in general, homophobia, vatican's excessive wealth (well at least now something is changing thanks to a very humble down-to-earth Pope) etc. In fact, all of these issues are portrayed as the cause of feeling lost between believing and not believing in God, siding with Jesus or Judas, loosing the criteria to understand what is right and what is wrong, what is sin and what is virtue, because some people want to believe in God but end up being disappointed in how the church behaves. Also, remember Trump holding the Bible some days ago? Trump is the personification of taking advantage of all the "Karen"s stereotypical americans and taking advantage of their traditional/conservative views which involve a bad instrumentalization of christianity, lack of kindness/fully democratic views and veiled racism towards "different" people, with different skin color/sexual orientation/religious belief etc. Gaga might wanted to address this recent Trump episode as well. Gaga is the living proof that you can be kind AND very very clear and critic at the same time, that you can showcase a christian faith AND be radically liberal/democratic at the same time. And imo she gave us an even more critical accent wearing a Judas inspired outfit. What do you think about that? MelbHawker 6,583
I don't think there's any deep meaning connecting this outfit to Judas / the era in relation to this speech she gave. She wore it because she felt like it.

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊
MelbHawker 6,583
Just now, Yxilon said: maybe... we'll never know for sure. To me, it's just leather, red lips and a bandana.. it's not really reflective of anything to do with faith. It's just a stereotypical biker chick look. BlackCrown 1,794
We'll never know but I love your interpretation, it makes sense ! I was wondering too if she chose to wore this randomly or if it was actually connected to Judas My crown is black, like the soul of fame

They are both very different from what she's daily showing during the Chromatica era. Everything could be everything (it could mean anything)

vinster13 3,574
I think she looks kinda cheap but go off. I think she chose the look because it screams “kindness punk”
Schwerk 7,246
She's a kindness punk, that's what I thought when I first saw this look. She probably chose this because she wanted to feel like bad-ass, bring out her youthful rebellious side and not sit there in a pantsuit and be 'Lady'. According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch
