This is a news article, not a government statement. They of course have the right to call out and emit hypothesis about when COVID started. There are a plethora of articles and studies done relating COVID already.

Neither of the countries you mentioned or US seemed to manage the virus in the best way and to say that is no ''villifying''.

“We can confirm that the Chinese Communist Party did all that it could to make sure that the world didn't learn in a timely fashion about what was taking place,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in May.

“President Trump has been very clear. We're going to hold those responsible accountable, and we'll do so on a timeline that is our own,” he added.

Yeah, ok, as if the article doesn't contain a statement from a government official. And if you don't consider that as a threat then you haven't been paying attention to what the trump administration has done.

This doesn't tell us exactly when the Chinese discovered covid-19 tho. It only tells us that hospital movement increased. This doesn't necessarily mean that all these months right from the beggining they knew what was going on

But yes I think it's very clear they knew for at least a bit before they announced it.

Not to excuse China tho. I just wanted to point out maybe not necessarily as long as this might suggest

Let's not act like China doesnt have it's own PR machine on fire pushing its own version of the story right now.

That's why it is good that we are starting to see evidence.

To be clear, I am not saying that China isn't attempting to manipulate the situation but the statements made by the secretary of state in the article are increasingly worrying. Instead of attempting to ease tensions with China, it looks like the administration is eager to exacerbate tensions with China. This is a mistake. There's no other way around that.

Yea. That is wrong. No one likes a bully.

The official story was it began in November, so now it’s at least one month before in October.

That is assuming that’s why there was an increase in traffic.

While I understand your point, I find it hard to believe that a country that had recent experiences with different virus outbreaks didnt get alarmed for 3 months by this strange activity.
