If you are going to counter someone's argument, don't set up a strawman to beat. You look foolish beating up a strawman pretending you're tough. I did not say he was against demilitarizing and re-educating police. I said he was against cutting any police funding or rerouting existing funds to those areas. He wants to spend extra on the police for education and training rather than drastic scaling back. Lion Heart 15,041
He can't say "I'll defund the police." Fox News/ OAN/ etc. will run with this all election long. The average person does not know what "defunding" the police departments actually means. In addition to that, I feel like it's political suicide: ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀

Imagine having 8 years of your presidency and then doing this last ditch effort as a Democrat reelection campaign strategy that FAILED because BLM people weren't having Hillary's nonsense Yes I'm sure Mitch was stacking conservative judges in the 80s. The credit for this mess goes to Nixon, Reagan, and your beloved Bill and Hillary "They are super-predators" Clinton. And Joe Biden for writing those bills in the Senate. Do you have a personal issue with me or just reading comprehension trouble? Did I ever say it was NOT the fault of private prisons? Anything you don't like is far left. You'll never face the uncomfortable truth. What a sad existence. Do you even realize how diminishing the achievements or trying to erase completely the achievements of a black president is inherently racist? The fact that you are doing it to gain favor for your white candidate is kinda gross. It's kind of shocking how you are taking pride in it and reveling in enjoyment as you are doing it too. You don't even know if he was waiting for the right number of support from a Republican Congress to pass it. Do you think Bernie would have faired better against a republican congress. Give me a break with your delusions. Also the 80's belongs to Regan and Bush and a mostly Republican majority in Congress. Of course they were stacking judges in the 80's. Do you want to know what Sanders said was the answer to black men dying at the hands of police. He said. "Youth unemployment" '...when Sanders was interviewed by Wolf Blitzer in early May (2015), during the unrest in Baltimore sparked by the death of Freddie Gray in police custody, he emphasized youth unemployment as the "long-run" solution: "In the neighborhood where this gentleman lives [sic], as I understand it, the unemployment rate is over 50 percent, over 50 percent. What we have got to do as a nation is understand that we have got to create millions of jobs, to put people back to work, to make sure that kids are in schools and not in jails."' https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vox.com/platform/amp/2015/8/11/9127653/bernie-sanders-black-lives-matter Bernie shares the same views as Trump as to what's wrong in Black communities. The black unemployment has been the lowest ever and that still isn't the answer to the problem. I'm done I can't help you. You think Bernie is perfect and everyone else is garbage. Bernie has been wrong too. So give it a rest already. Are you ****ing kidding me? This is not about Bernie. Shut up. No one brought up Bernie but you. He has a lot of the same issues, just not nearly as stark. Maybe you didn't know but I'm a person of color. Do NOT tell me how it's racist to criticize someone who drone-striked people who look like me in our own home countries. We do not need more black or female war criminals. Get down from your moral high ground, white knight. No one is erasing his achievements. Anyone with half a brain with critical thinking can tell how a policy announced in the last two months of your 8 years is an election ploy. You're so blinded by your faves, it's astounding. 5 minutes ago, JusKeepBreathin said: to make sure that kids are in schools and not in jails."' This is what you call "same is Trump." You should be ashamed of yourself for your disingenuousness. I will not be engaging about Bernie any more here. Give it a rest. MACATL 2,128
Saying he is for it would kill his swing voter support. However, now expect a social media campaign, started from who knows where, to boycott the vote this fall in protest. Just what the doctor ordered for Trump. See how this all works? Zeth 948
I personally believe defunding the police would only lead to the persistence of these problems that face the nation's police force. If anything, what they need right now is their funding appropriately allocated towards reform. The last thing the U.S. should do is take away resources away from an organization that clearly needs it the most right now. It's just not a productive move beyond spite. If you are truly this clueless after the whole nation has been discussing the real meaning of "defund the police" for several days now, no one else is going to be able explain it to you on here. There must be a willingness to learn instead of an insistence to remain ignorant. 9 minutes ago, frederiickx said: Also remember voters: Trump will never defund the police either, but Biden won't turn the police on us just because he may not get his way or like certain things. Trump is dangerous, vote for Biden. Trump won't defund the police? Don't vote for him. Biden won't defund the police? Don't vote for him. Biden, most definitely, will turn the police against us. Do you remember the DAPL protests during the Obama administration? Peaceful protesters were met with literal water cannons. This is the same police, led by an administration in which Biden was the VP, that you claim will not turn against us. But they did. They turned against us. The record is stacked against you, sis. Biden sucks, too. Accept that. I'm not saying that you shouldn't vote for him, but do not pretend that he is some sweet human being. He is evil. Biden will literally veto M4A. He is dangerous. 25,000 people die every year because of our failure to guarantee health care as a human right. Many of these deaths will persist with the implementation of Biden's corporatist health care plan. Do you think a POTUS candidate whose health care plan will result in thousands of deaths every year is dangerous? I, and millions of Americans, think that a health care plan that kills people is quite violent and dangerous.
