The S&P 500 rallied a full 38 points on Monday to break even for the year, boosted by vaccine optimism and a strong May jobs report. The news will be welcome to the millions of Americans whose retirement and pension funds are tied or partially tied to the stock index, as well as individual investors and mutual fund holders. The gains were driven by airline shares including Alaska Airlines* (+17.6%) and United Airlines (+14.8%), as well as a strong day for Norwegian Cruise Line (+19.8%).

Elsewhere, the Dow Jones added over 450 points and the NASDAQ also finished in the green with a 110 point jump.

Unlike the very rich people making money off of the turbulent changes in the stock market right now, not everyone who has an investment in the stock market has access to liquidate their investment. So, my point still stands that the situation has only continued to increase the wealth of the very rich while destroying what cash liquidity that working class people all for the sake of giving bailouts to corporations instead of people.
