I don't get the hate towards "fun tonight" .

In my personal opinion fun tonight is one of the few well crafted songs on the album .. everything about it is great starting from the good verses that captive u from the first time u listen to the song to the emotional pre-chorus , the super catchy chorus and of course the nostalgic bridge with "oh oh oh oh" that personally reminded me of RedOne's touch and type of production (badromance_pokerface_judas etc)

I still don't get the hate for this song .. some users here said it's super basic while at the same time they keep praising "SL" and "love me right" ..

That's not fair .

Fun tonight is an earworm and one of the few good songs on the album . PERIOD

In Chromatica every song is greater than the other so stream the entire album fatties

Easily one of my favourites from the album tbh. It's just so well made and enjoyable to listen to

to be honest, the expressive hatred for "fun tonight" has never popped up anywhere on my timeline, and it's weird to   hear that someone would accuse the song of being "basic". In the musical context of the album, this song is one of the most original because it seems to be composed of entirely separate pieces that somehow work together, but that's just my opinion

Perhaps it is a testament of how well rounded Chromatica was crafted as nearly every track has their own defenders similar how Born This Way had teams for each song.

Fun Tonight is sad and bittersweet, but has a wonderful melody. It fits in with painful depression theme of the album.

Do your own research.

It's like one of the few songs i'm enjoying listening to it on repeat everyday ... it's so nostalgic and super catchy and u can get emotional while you're dancing to it ..

Personally i didn't get this feeling while listening to a song since "the edge of glory"

I don’t think it’s hated, it’s just not a stand out. The lyrics are some of the greatest but there’s no chorus “I’m not having fun tonight *electronic breakdown*” and the breakdown is not anything special.

It’s just not catchy at all to me

The callback in the lyrics "you love the paparazzi love the fame" made smile so hard on first listen.

It's a great song! Not my fav but definitely not bad in any way! It's a grower for me.

And I love that she sings "I'm not having fun tonight", that was a twist! Made the song more interesting for me. She's trying to have fun but has accepted that she just isn't. We've all been there.

P.S. Also the "IIIIII'm feelin' the way that I'm feelin' I'm feelin' with yoooooou-ou-ou" and the saxophone/trumpet/whatever sound after is a super catchy standout!

Also... (sorry I gotta stop editing :triggered:)  I heard a lot of people saying they got blue balls from the lack of a drop after the build up... Which I personally can't relate to. I like when a song just ebbs and flows. Idk why everyone is addicted to beat drops these days...

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I really didn't like it at first but I have grown to enjoy it well enough. I think what differentiates Fun Tonight from Stupid Love for me is Stupid Love sounds like a throwback to BTW and ARTPOP. It is distinctly a Gaga-fied simple pop song. Fun Tonight and Plastic Doll are the two songs on the album that for me sound the least distinctly like Gaga. I can imagine any pop girl singing them. And lyrically they both play on concepts we have heard so many times before. Gaga is special to me because very few of her big hits could just be switched out with any other singer. She has a real musical and lyrical POV. And so I feel underwhelmed hearing her sound so much like any pop singer.

something about the chorus just stunned me when I first heard the song. it was surprisingly sentimental when I was expecting a fierce bop, and I had this feeling, you know, when you're left alone on the dance floor, all alone and the music is still playing but you see everything kinda in slow-motion

I love the song but the breakdown at the end :triggered:

The breakdown is so nostalgic .. every iconic gaga's song had that "oh oh oh" type of melody (bad romance_poker face_judas_sheiße_justdance etc)

I agree. It just feels a little jarring to me. Soz.
