As much as I enjoy this album from start to finish, I keep thinking about the Paper Magazine shoot, the album cover and how the whole Chromatica concept has potential for this album to be darker than it is. I loooove the 90's house sound and yes I'm so happy with the songs we got but the whole imagery of it pointed this to be something like Government Hooker, Heavy Metal Lover type of industrial techno album and sounds like they went super safe with it, especially the under 3 minute length. For someone like Gaga who started her career with songs like Bad Romance, Judas, Scheiße, Marry The Night, etc. this is a little bit "tamed" if I can say that.

This.

1000 Doves is one of my favourites. I know it's very conventional, but it works and it resonates with people so that's cool.

Still think Sour Candy is the worst track, but still a bop.

Still think Stupid Love is a decent track. It's not my favourite, but it's enjoyable.

It's not Gaga's best album, but she's reaching to that point so I'm glad.

Enigma came out disappointing after we got teased from the Las Vegas residency vibes. I did not expect such a repetitive chrous. The growling seems a bit off in this song and would've be better placed in other records.

However, her twin Replay is an instant bop tho.

HUGE LIST INCOMING

(arrest me GGD, I don't give a f*ck, this is about UNPOPULAR opinions, I'm not here to post something you agree with:vegas:)

- Chromatica is my least favorite Gaga album (for now) (but I still love Gaga more than any other artist)

- People praise it because it's cohesive, but I think overall most of the songs sound about the same and I don't like it

- Stupid Love was the best choice for the lead single (if ROM was single #2 of course)

- Stupid Love reminds me of Highway To Hell (don't ask me why lmaoooo)

- The two only songs that are single-material were already released as singles

- Stupid Love sounds awful between Alice and Rain On Me (not that it's bad but it just doesn't work.) It would be better if Stupid Love was before Alice, and if ROM was right after Alice.

- Replay is the only song that isn't generic

- I'm certain that I've heard the exact melody of the ROM outro (thunder coming down) in at least 5 songs from 2014-2016, when I first heard it I prayed it wouldn't be the melody I expected, but it actually was

- Too much reverberation on her voice in almost every song

- Stupid Love was destroyed by its final mixing / mastering. The leaked demo is 100x better and it's the only version I listen to

- The vocals in Replay are INCREDIBLE

- Elton John and Gaga don't sound good together

- The production in some songs sounds like a remix posted by an amateur person on YouTube (especially Free Woman)

- Alice, Stupid Love, Rain On Me and Replay are the best produced songs by far

- I LOVE the interludes and I consider them to be as important as the songs, especially since it's the first time Gaga writes pieces like these with no vocals

This too

ARTPOP is superior to Chromatica. (despite the drama that sorrounded it)

Plastic Doll sounds like a song that was meant to be for Nicki Minaj  during her pop-Gaga  phase.

— The interludes are amazing.

— Stupid Love is not a bad song.

— The drops are annoyingly generic and dated.

— It's lyrically, her best album, but production-wise her worst.

— 1000 Doves demo is miles better than the album version.

— It's the production what ruin the songs, for me. Fun Tonight, Sine From Above and 1000 Doves should have been ballads.

— Plastic Doll should have had a darker production.

— Sour Candy is not a bad song, its structure might be weird, but it's really good.

— Songs are just fine with its lenghts, they have replay value.

— Replay is one of the best songs on the album, along with Enigma.

— The album is seasonal, not timeless.

— She should have stick to the dark, experimental production instead. While she went for a more commercial sound, it won't be as near as legendary as her older songs (with the exception of ROM) she played really safe.

PG.

God Control

Don’t know if this is unpopular, but Alice is one of the best songs she’s ever made and it’s miles better than Rain On Me and Stupid Love.

I agree, wholeheartedly.

The album is good, maybe even great, but very "tame". Gaga might not say it, and maybe it wasn't the primary intention, but everything about the album's sonic landscape is within the realm of "perfectly balanced pop comeback". It's still Gaga, so it's still a touch weird, but it's much safer than I anticipated.

Stupid Love's production, while really generic, is actually the best on the album. It's punchy, pulsating, and has some of my favorite sounds on the entire album:  the bursts of sound at 1:00, 1:04 and 1:08 are pure sound candy.

SL instrumental is amazing - I remember when I first heard it I was like... this isn’t SL lol - it just sounds so different - (and I love SL, I think it’s a BOP)

My maybe unpopular opinion...

Babylon is okay (I do think the album version fits the album more but I would have liked a punchier end) - I was way too excited for the Haus labs version which I hope they officially release very very soon - but I needed that beat to whack me upside the ****ing face (so far peoples remixes are great tho so in the end when we do get the official at least we will have 2 versions)

I did expect the album to be more “dark” pop or whatever the 90’s house dance kinda took me for a surprise - whether good or bad.. I dunno but if Haus labs Babylon was the dance pop and the album version is house dance 90s ... you can see where I might have preferred :wtfga:

but I love the album

Stupid Love instrumental is amazing, it's like Do What U Want's sister song.
