JusKeepBreathin 19,311
In the story Alice in Wonderland, I always thought of Wonderland as place of conflict and hard choices. Alice tries to fit in as best as she can. She befriends the natives tho she never really understands their behavior as she navigates through Wonderland. Also, battling the Queen of Hearts. They are metaphors for the hard choices Alice makes in her real life and the conflict within her own heart. So what is Wonderland in the song Alice? Bling 31,385
Wonderland is the place better than the hell she's in right now. Which she talks about throughout the album. But it can also be interpreted as she will continue chasing different highs through alcohol, drugs, relationships, career, etc.

Sneaky Oliver 22,173
I don’t think it’s such a literal reference, I think she means to find a good place where she can be at peace and enjoy life
Sneaky Oliver 22,173
For me “we could be jokers brought to the daylight” is that one lyric that makes me confused

The freedom to make her own choices? Whether it be alcohol, drugs or relationships and career. Kimmo 80,759
Gaga is a stoner so her Wonderland is her “happy place”... being high... she’s flying to her Galaxy Hottie Detector
Gagaism 11,774
I don’t know but it’s just interesting how she starts looking for Wonderland and ends in Babylon, her mind

I think it can be a complex meaning because as we see throughout the album, there's a large part of her that enjoys the aspects of being a pop star and being famous. (Or GAGA favors it, and Stefani tolerates it) So I think it can also be about resting your mind (DJ free my mind) It's about dancing through your pain and hoping you find resolution

NewUsername 11,405
As she also said in several interviews, she's not perfect and she's not always happy, but she'll keep looking and wishing for that "place", "the good place". Again her radical acceptance, while still being hopeful and looking forward to feeling better etc.

Now I have to go back and relisten to Babylon to understand Babylon a little more too TBH. Gaga just doesn't seem like the type to chase happiness. She seems happiest in the struggle. Like it feeds her. "Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." -Martin Luther King Jr.
