We know that because our own personal insider said that is very hard to place songs on the playlists in the first place.

If you refer to something like that huge Scorpion coverage, that case was probably a deal between Drake's label/management and Spotify to give some advantage to the platform as well, like a win-win situation. @La Rosalia could surely explain it better than me though.

Spotify achievements yesterday... I'm lazy (10.02.20) :

Shallow crosses 1.555b streams (1,555,264,797)

Just Dance crosses 279m streams (279,060,386)

Rain On Me crosses 105m streams (105,174,531)

Sour Candy crosses 45m streams (45,959,967)

Free Woman crosses 12m streams (12,117,917)

Fun Tonight crosses 10m streams (10,311,659)

As mentioned yesterday, Rain On Me overtakes Judas on Spotify and becomes her 18th most streamed track at the moment, however ROM will continue to overtake other tracks and hopefully reach 200m streams by mid-July.

Getting to know Spotify, I actually think they're fair - and they have access to data we don't have like skip rates etc 

They give a song the initial push - but the audience decides its fate from there depending on response 

The #1 thing Spotify likes is stability, whether that 6m streams or 2m - if you stabilise relative you'll hold a better TTHS position and get added in more playlists. Likewise the opposite happens - this is what I thought about Dua's 'BMH' residency on TTHS, cause I can't think why else tbh 

Also artists initially all get 3 songs per big release - that's fair 

I think when a song gets added high, that's determined by the appeal and potential of the song based on the power of the artist. Daisies got added at #13 SL at #1 - gaga came off ASIB, Katy off Small Talk

When a song gets moved up randomly, the label have persuaded Spotify using recent events or upcoming promo that have/haven't happened - whether that be a big promo spot coming, a BLM issue or something else like the song going #1. 

Also ROM got added high but no cover. Chromatica release the week later Gave Gaga the cover And ROM #1  - that was probably decided before hand, and ROM initial TTHS debut at #3 was irrelevant to that - they just added it to big playlists like they would any song - the 'payola' element came with Chromatica
