Well what were you expecting, Lady Gaga is acting like she's in a blackout moment while she released an album on week ago.

Though I'm sure Chromatica has potential to last in logevity when promo will be back. It has a lot more potential to slay the charts in longevity than ARTPOP and Joanne.

Plus, nobody is going out to buy music. Streaming will decide and Gaga just isn't strong enough on AM, where Lil Baby (the #1 contender) is strong.

She needs 65k for #1, it's still within reach. We just need Bobby to give it a push. The Weeknd kept releasing new bundles every week, so why not

It's doing less than 3m daily on US Spotify so its far from okay :huntyga:

But at least the WW stats are good.

This is a MESS, guys:saladga:

What is happening?

Probably the GP was curious about her comeback, but it's not connecting to the album:toofunny:

Why is everyone meltdowing? :madge:

Did the soundtrack era made y'all forgot Gaga is the epitome of frontloaded? Did y'all expect stability without lifting a finger? It's always about big numbers at first and then quick big drops, it always happens to her singles, obviously it's happening with her albums too :excuseu:

Bitch hasn't said a word about the album since release day, and we're pushing to tracking week #3. People's attention span is as little as a bean, they need to have their eyes flooded with content 'cause they won't check out sh*t. There's a reason everyone is taking about re-restarting the era.

Yeah, that's a good point. I think looking through various reports, it is possible to make a loose outline of subs from the start of 2017 (how far back Spotify keeps its records online) and now and probably make some pretty accurate assumptions.

Ideally, I want to suck in ALL the data they have, normalize it, associate with other data we pull (radio, itunes, apple, amazon, Shazam, etc) and build a very comprehensive analysis of data over time and use that to build accurate predictors and build more tables that supply useful insight into current releases (which @derpmonster is starting to do already).

We probably won't have nearly as much historical data outside of Spotify/iTunes, so a more comprehensive view will take a while to build

I agree. The subscriber count will be important to at least mention and keep in mind as @BenG even if we don't normalize against it.

The other issue is the total number of Spotify subscribers and YouTube users. As much as we love comparing Joanne to ASIB and Chromatica, we gotta remember music streaming grew a lot even from late 2016. :)

The good thing about charts is we can easily switch to percent mode and see if seasonal disturbances still hold up with more new users but the truth is the new users won't be necessarily uniform. It's possible that streaming reached different demographics at different points and that they have different streaming habits. ;)

And this is not always a bad thing - Gaga is sort of cursed to be frontloaded now because she has such dedicated fans.

Other artists who don't can enjoy organic GP attention but Gaga will always have monsters inflating first day/week numbers massively.

It's good as long as it stabilizes at a decent spot later and radio picks songs up. Exposure helps rise in other metrics again.

I wish they could release some new bundles this week, today would be the last moment actually. This album needs and deserves a push. I guess the closing of her shop really did do some damage. Oh well.

It'll still have to be a quiet push with online ads/bundles. Gaga probably still won't feel comfortable advertising it on her social media as of right now.

Wouldn't that just add 3 songs that aren't super hits anyway?

Should just add them to the end of the album.
