K-Pop Stans Defeat Dallas Police App

On Saturday, the Dallas Police Department posted a tweet telling people to send them videos from ongoing protests against police brutality via the iWatch Dallas app.

"If you have a video of illegal activity from the protests and are trying to share it with @DallasPD, you can download it to our iWatch Dallas app," they wrote. "You can remain anonymous."

K-pop fans regularly post clips of their favorite artists on Twitter, even in response to completely unrelated tweets. However, many fans have recently stopped tweeting so zealously about their favorite groups, hoping to keep #BlackLivesMatter and related phrases trending instead. Now they're using their collections of fancams to try to protect protesters and further help the cause.

I'm all for supporting the cause. But WHY are people supporting and PROTECTING looting and stealing?

It does nothing for the cause and doesn't even affect the police.

They are people peacefully protesting, and yet cops have ran them down, beaten them, shot them  and sprayed them. I do not support the act of looting in anyway, and the majority aren't taking part of the action, but if you think about it their voices have fell on deaf ears and this might be the only way their voices are heard

The people peacefully protesting and abused by cops are not the ones I'm talking about.

As for their voices being heard, the issue is on its 5th day of national news, center of attention. They've had it, so that's not really a justification.

Yes. It’s finally on the news. I’m glad you noticed it’s been on for 5 days. Has anything changed? Have the voices actually been heard? Are you even aware on how important this protest is?

And yet the President is against them, there has been zero talk about him saying that the system needs to be reformed. Can you tell me why a cop with 18 prior complaints still had his job? Can you tell me how many more people need to die for change to be made?

So what exactly does your post have to do with my point of looting and destroying businesses?

Also, it's hard to have anything change when everybody is complaining, but nobody is coming up with possible solutions. Einstein once said: "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

And yet here we are, 4 years later with everyone doing the same stuff they did during the BLM protests in 2016.

it isn't actually. these protests are a lot more violent and widespread than 2014-16.

peaceful protest has been practised for years, but now it seems that looting and destroying businesses is the only way forward. it's the only way to get them to listen. THEY DON'T LISTEN TO PEACEFUL PROTESTS. AS A MOVEMENT, WE ARE DESPERATE. RIOTING IS THE LAST HOPE FOR CHANGE.

I personally feel that this isn't only about George Floyd, but rather 200+ years of racial inequality

If you are more worried about the looting for insured business, then you are part of the problem. You need a history lesson. You think woman and gays got their rights by walking down the street holding hands? Did you forget how many times black people tried protesting peacefully? You guys always have a problem with whatever they do. Whether it’s kneeling during the anthem, when colin kaepernick made a deal an ad with Nike to bring awareness with the injustice going on, or simply just ignoring them when they simply stand and ask for equal treatment. Go set up a GOFund account for all the businesses and donate to them since that seems to be the most important thing to you.
