My Protesting experience In Boston

     Yesterday's protest in boston started out great, everyone was united we walked for miles to the state house and we all chanted. The very problem with the protest is that was all we were doing besides having arguments with people who were wilding at the protest was chanting and yelling. I wish we had public speakers to help keep order and instruct the crowds to make way for traffic or to not throw things at the cop cars. Everything started to turn after we got to the statehouse. People were blocking cop cars and throwing bottles: Empty or filled, plastic or glass anything they could throw. Many people did chant to stop throwing things but some people literally just came to disrupt and destroy. Cops threw tear gas when people surrounded their car and would not let them pass causing people to get angry at the cops. People were not rationalizing things and it made the situation worst. 

     What went wrong is that people were not allowing traffic to go through, they did let people in cars pass by but they gave cops a hard time; Cops were there to keep order we would have never been tear gassed if people didn't harass police.

    A lot of people during the protest were there with good intention but there people to cause damage too. After everything started to get too wild my friends and I decided to leave, that's when we see the cop car (picture above) get set on fire. I wanted to follow the crowd so badly but my great group mates pulled me away saving me from any police retaliation. While trying to locate a group member who got separated from the group as cops tear gassed protesters who were throwing bottle at them, they had blocked off access to many streets in downtown Boston we had to walk in circles to get out of there. 

We had to get to south station but we were having a hard time finding our group mate so we had to sit and take a break. While resting we were almost hit by a glass bottle, a group of white people threw at us. I wanted to record them but my sister and her date stopped me. I really regret not following them and recording them for what they did, they attacked us for just being there, not doing anything wrong. Last night was triggering and I feel sad this is how the night turned out I had more hope in Boston but that's what happens when you have a protest with no clear leaders. This was a protest planned online and there was no plan on what people were gonna talk about. I wish we had public speakers at the protest in my head everything would have turned out better than how it ended. A lot of people were there with the intention to steal if we had leader condemning those actions maybe just maybe people would not have acted out.  I hope everyone is safe and sound. Protest safely.

Thank you so much for sharing! It's a crazy time and I'm glad you and your friends are safe and that you went out anyway. I think that's incredible. Some friends and I are going to try to join this week in NYC. We've been pretty hesitant with covid and how things can get out of hand due to bad actors, but I think it's worth the risks morally.

For real I was so frustrated I was struggling to find the camera app. So dumb I forgot the home screen has a camera tab.
