Will Gaga ever use her brighter tone of voice again?

P. S. I really wish she had used the brighter tone for the Your Song cover. Would've fitted the song a lot better.

It would be sort of impossible in the key she chose. There's an F#5 in the song. She can't do the thin bright tone from some of her BTW era live performances. Wouldn't be able to sing that note. She could do a DWUW style voice though.

However, I think she wanted to sing it more traditionally because she treats it like a classic. She sang it a bit nasally with mask placement like she did the Smile cover and the 1000 Doves Piano demo. :)

Are we listening to the same album? 'Cuz like Chromatica has like a A LOT of bright tone?

I think people are talking about a lot of different things at once.

Her head voice from Paparazzi is back and very extensively being used now which I'm so glad for. Her belts remain thick and textured which is not how they were. They're just healthier now.

She used a lot of the same lows she uses now in Born This Way including the talking in the song BTW and Black Jesus. But her high girly tone in some of Born This Way was straight up shouty. Think of TEOG album version. We may miss it because of nostalgia but it wasn't very good vocally. I'm glad she's approaching it differently now. Considering how well she can replicate her Fame tone, I'm sure she could do BTW if she tried. It would still be different though as her voice has physically changed.

I wonder why she had never used the falsetto during the fame era live performance

It's difficult, that's the simple reason :)

it's difficult to transition between head and modal/chest voice so easily back and forth especially when the song is fast. It can lead to very, very ugly breaks that sound like a pubescent boy  Well it's easier in female voices but still challenging.

She has trained a lot since then and isn't doing the drugs she was doing then. Head voice was needed for a lot of ASIB repertoire and she trained for that.

I think the Chromatica album showcases her different vocal styles actually - light, dark, head notes, low notes, chest belts, growls.  I was relieved actually.

Do you mean like how she sang Telephone at the Superbowl? When I first saw that I was surprised and realised she still has it in her and it's purely a choice

I remember she said sound engineers used to take out the vibrato from her voice, so I wonder if editing it from her vocals helped produce that bright sound you're talking about? I know after ARTPOP she was done with them editing her voice like that. I think the pop voice she uses on Chromatica is a happy medium IMO.

She brought it out in chromatica more than she has since born this way tbh

She also said at some point that her vocals used to get edited to the point where they removed the lower tones which she hated

If you mean her brighter tone during the TF to the BTW era, I don't think she will. She's older now, her voice and tone have gotten deeper and darker over the years.

Are we talking about this voice?

Cuz I think it's long gone and was left in the 2010s:shrug:

Chromatica act II has a lot of vocals reminscent of The Fame period I was shocked that she could still do it albeit a less girly. I think she could still do it given part of her TF voice was an impression after all. When she performs Lovegame on her tours she does that baby voice sometimes.
