but honestly, it's always the same members consistently so negative about gaga when it comes to social issues. you cry when she doesn't say anything, and then continue to cry when she does? if she mentioned anywhere in these posts that she donated money ya'll would then proceed to tear into her saying she's flaunting her wealth i literally do not get it.

celebrities as a whole will show their support, will donate, will acknowledge their privilege, and people will still find a way to attack them. at this point, what the **** do ya'll want these celebs to do? bc nothing is good enough, clearly. :rip: i swear, take that energy and put it on lana, someone who had no issue going on a 4 day rant on how her tone deaf post shouldn't have upset people, but is now quiet, not a woman who has always advocated for social justice advancements for years. the lack of brain cells whew, incredible

So "you ain't black" Biden is going to magically fix all this? So "lock them SOBs up" Biden is going to magically fix all this? He is literally the key inventor of mass incarceration... DO any of you read?

Is Biden great? No. Not even remotely. So depressed he’s the dem pick.

Is he light years ahead of Trump in just about every policy, yes? Has he made terrible mistakes in the past? Yes. But he generally has come around, by force or not, and will stick to a much more sensible presidency.

Do I want Biden? No. Will I vote for him over Trump? A million times yes.

Yeah. It's sad how everyone being against the cops, due to the actions of 3 brain dead cops

God rest his soul :( People should be focusing their angers on the murderers. Heck  yes there are bad, racist, power hungry cops out there. There should be a better system in weeding them out and punishing them at the highest levels of hate crime. But there are amazing cops out there that help people, but the media won’t report that. My father has a heart of gold, a well respected officer in my community. I am proud. I just wish people would open their eyes and see that cops are not here to hurt everybody. Its the leaders that let those bad cops slide through the systems. Rant Over. Its just breaking my heart even more, I can’t read any more replies back to me cause I know i’ll just be bashed. :(

Is he worse than Trump? Yes or no? Because if you believe he is and that 4 more years will keep the country safe under a second Trump regime

Good god, the way some of y'all are this detached from reality :saladga:

Anyway, I'll not derail this topic more and just say please get out of your privileged bubble if you think 4 more years of Trump is fine for this country. Minorities will continue to get killed, nothing will change, riots will only increase under him not decrease.

What is more noble than laying down your arms in the midst of an uprising?

My grandparents worked for the LAPD and I believe the primary function of the police is neither community safety nor crime prevention. Police, like prisons, are obsolete. I know its a radical thought, pls don't respond with disagreement, we (meaning prison abolitionists) have heard it all before... save yourself the energy!

Wow a crazy radical thought and you don't want to discuss it with "pls don't respond with disagreement".  Doesn't really sound like you're too confident is my first thought and honestly kinda cowardly.  You really remind me of some of the conservatives on my timeline who spout out bs about mail-in voting and responded with "please don't come at me! I'm not arguing!" when someone brings up a valid point.  *Note I'm not saying you are conservative or your thought is wrong.  But if you're gonna bring out a radical idea, please be ready to back it up.  I know we are all better than this...

You know what I would think would be more honorable than leaving the force?  How about actually joining them while actually protecting and serving the blm cause?

He's come around? Last week he said that black people who aren't voting for him are not black. He's a f*cking racist whose policies have locked up thousands of black men. Wake up.

If you continually pick the lesser of two evils, have you ever considered that you may just always be given evil candidates? If the Dem establishment can get you to vote for racist Joe Biden, do you really going to think they're EVER going to giver you someone better to vote for?

Gaga can never win. She’s damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t. Her words are honest and empathetic, yet she still gets crucified. For all we know, she could be doing a lot behind the scenes. She doesn’t need to broadcast it all over social media for recognition like some others.

"Black people can never win, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't, their words might be honest and sympathetic, yet they're still crucified"

Gaga's above the criticism don't worry about that, but black people don't have a choice, they're criticized for being who they are physically, not for who they chose to be (famous in the case of our Lady) and that's why she's using her privilege for good, broadcasting it all over social media to raise awareness; information kills prejudice

May I kindly remind you that one of the cops that watched George Floyd die was Asian. In my hometown, I witnessed a Latino and an Asian cop use brutal force during protests. Have your opinion, but policemen were originally used to protect slave property centuries ago. The issue is not always individual cops, it’s the inherent systemic issue that the police state presents.

I understand, but to say people who are cops performing their duties as they should, are not harming anyone, and are actually doing some good should just quit because the system is racist is just not it! That's very naive thinking.

Black people's tax dollars are going towards their local police forces and they deserved to be protected by individuals who actually care whether they live or die. Officers in the community do a LOT more than show up to arrest people, write tickets, and pose at protests.

8 more years of Biden, whose policies incarcerated thousands of black people, will not be better. Let's not pretend Joe is a saint. He's a blatant racist and you must be, to use your own words, detached from reality to believe otherwise. Goodness, liberals. Wake the f*ck up.

People are mad because almost all cops defend or don't call other cops out on their racist ways. We need all the 'good cops' to stop being complicit and just non-racist. We need them to actively call out the racism and corruption in their field. I sincerely hope your father does that.

That'll do it, Gaga. Ready for a kindness revolution. Sunshine and rainbows.

Misinformation, disinformation, ignorance and willful stupidity.

no one is targeting white people or white businesses. EVERYONE is equally affected by the protests while BLACK LIVES and LIVELIHOODS are being disproportionately affected by the injustices and racism in Western society.

I think this was a generally well-worded statement that could've been improved in certain points. She tends to be a bit preachy about the non-violence and kindness rhetoric, which I'm fine with as an overall philosophy, but you have to read the room and this is not the moment to push such a thing: unfortunately, violence is in many times the only way through which disenfranchised and historically marginalized communities can make themselves heard and achieve some sort of progress. I think she managed to avoid the preachiness for the most part, albeit still coming off as a bit idealistic/detached and not focusing enough on the realistic, practical ways to enact change (that do not necessarily involve kindness).
So what I hope for is that this marks the beginning of further involvement from her as an ally and supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, instead of just being an ultimate, general statement about the issue followed by a couple more tweets in the next few weeks and that's it. There are many ways for her to actually contribute towards a solution besides just using her words, ranging from providing supplies, to donating to funds and organizations that work against systemic/institutional racism in the US, showing up to the protests (if her health allows her to do so), amongst other alternatives that I'm sure have been mentioned several times already in this thread. But I'm hopeful (and somewhat confident) that she will follow through.

This thread is so messy. Literally people saying she should do more and others saying she should’ve done less :toofunny:

Proud of Gaga for adding her voice/opinion.

Thank you to those Monsters who were out at these protests/demonstrations today fighting for justice.
