Even David Bowie was a self-proclaimed ‘collector’ of ideas, MJ’s style is also heavily inspired by others before him. Beyonce is not doubt inspired by Janet Jackson, who was doing the heavy choreography and black feminist thing way before her. Britney was very much a young, modern Madonna in her heyday. Gaga gets torn down the most because she’s unfortunately had to exist during the digital age and social media era, where everything is compared. The gag is, she’s still Gaga and highly original in her own right, and still very different from Madonna. The music industry has soared over the past 100 years, popular music, and there will unfortunately come a time when the best isn’t on top anymore or ideas start to overlap and get borrowed.
