The production for Chromatica was not it

I played the album for my best friend today. She likes Gaga but doesn't listen to her unless I'm around. She's more of a NF, Post Malone gal.

She liked a lot of the songs, especially Enigma, 911, and 1000 Doves.

Her #1 complaint about the album is that almost every song has the same dance beat underneath. Some songs, like Free Woman and Babylon and 1000 Doves, she thought "It sounds like they recorded the vocals and just slapped them on any club beat they could find."

I have to agree.

Before anyone jumps on me, I love this album. I really do. I love the melodies. I love the lyrics, I think they're the best Gaga's had in quite a while. BUT, there is a slight complain whenever I'm listening to the album. The production. I probably might be the only one BUT I feel like the production is SUPER REPETITIVE rather than this "cohesion" narrative that everyone is claiming about. While I have no complains with the verse-chorus-drop structure on almost every track, the DROPS throughout the album are so unnecessarily repetitive. They are not dull at all, just VERY similar to every other single drop in the album. You know why it's an issue? The album gets tiring. Very tiring. I feel the drops are rather also very outdated, which I even confirmed with my local friend, and he said the same. The production is still neat, it's just the concept is not it. I feel like they could add more variety production wise i.e. having Haus Labs esque production and some more major influenced production from other producers like SOPHIE and overall, a super modern production.

To end this with rather a positive note, this is the best era we've had from Gaga visuals wise. She's ruling everywhere. I love it.

No negativity on this site. Ciao.

I disagree, the best and most classic House tracks are like 7 minutes long. For a House track to really HIT it needs build up, structure, a climax. Most of that is missing on Chromatica.

The album sounds like it wants to be House, a genre that is dead in the mainstream, but also wants to appeal to the modern streaming crowd. Their way of doing so is going for the most generic and safe type of House music, and keeping every song under 3:30.

Everyone expresses their opinion like it’s the truth. Putting “I think”, and “I feel” before every statement is unnecessary.

You don’t need to be a producer to criticize production.

You’re unnecessarily rude and a perfect example of the horrible things y’all have been saying to people with genuine criticism.

Can we get a Chromatica Criticism Thread please? Somewhere where we can talk about the album and its shortcomings without getting insulted?

Eww. I'm disgusted.

I agree. while I am getting a little more used to most of the songs, my main issue was that half the album sounds the same. So much that i couldnt even tell the songs apart. I wished someone would have though about this because it really makes it harder to digest.

I was sad the album was so short, but quite honestly, 10 more seconds on either song would have made it unlistenable.

I will say the production is well done, but the genre does not lend itself for much innovation. I guess it was predictable, but I think if they had dialed it down a bit it would have been better.

I think maybe if some of them didn't just start with music and Gaga's echoed harmonizing. Different intros could've made a huge difference.

It's house music though:oprah: What's house without a beat drop?

Wet Fire

I think it's among Gaga's best produced albums, along with TFM :selena:

the cultist mindset that this album is 100% perfect without any flaws whatsoever so many of you have scares me away from having any sort of opinion. Glad to see at least some people don't mind giving constructive criticism.

In the most respectful way possible, please SHUT UP. It’s her best album and she worked so ****ing hard on it, the production is extraordinary.

Some of us maybe study music or work in the music industry + maybe just leave this discussion or ignore it, if you don’t like to read it.  :)

I think he explained it very well and declared it as his own opinion, nothing wrong with that.

I had the same feeling. It’s also taste I... guess. I love the cohesion and vocals but the production doesnt meet my taste at all... and I’m still sad about it cause we waited many years. That’s not the point tho!!!

please don’t feel upset about all the bullying youre recieveing for expressing a polite and genuine opinion♥️

you guys are everything but kindness punks.. you call him disgusting? Are you serious? Just enjoy the album and don’t interact with people if you have no tolerance towards other’s tastes.

i’m very disappointed

ToxicHot

I don't necessarily agree 100%, but I'll admit some songs sound a little over-produced. You can really, really tell how much work and effort most of the songs on the album required - but yeah, some could've been toned down I think.

Why do some of you people keep calling it house music? :enigma: It's very clearly EDM. House may have influenced a few songs (Sour Candy, Babylon) but this album is NOT house... The Free Woman demo was the most house we've heard from Gaga (which I'm super sad about now that the final version is totally different ).
