Worst track of the album but perfect choice for the lead. You get me? I think it's the most radio friendly track on the album. It just screams Gaga that GP loves.

Rat Boy

I'm confused as to why they selected SL over the other songs.

Even without hearing the album yet I can say that it probably wasn't the best choice :ohwell:

Really great introduction to the album, a bop that doesn't give too much away. Clever choice.

I think ROM would have been an amazing lead single. It would have definitely gone #1 and it being the lead would probably boost its longevity. However ROM was an excellent choice as a single at this time as it's brought more attention to the album.

I’m one of the few on GGD who genuinely enjoyed it as the lead. It’s fun and I listen to it all the time!

Given it's bottom 3 on the album probably not but at least everything was better after it so win win.

Mephistony

Simple song with repetitive lyrics and disappointing chorus. Should not even be included on the album.

I don't think it was a bad choice, but it wasn't a great choice either.

The perfect lead choice. It was the best way to phase in the sound & the most GP friendly for sure.

You are delusional if you think SL wasn’t a strategic choice

Yes, and there's huge similarities regarding her lead single choices since BTW. They're all great introductions to their albums as they let you know what the album's gonna be like without giving too much info (so that you get hooked on the hype), very radio friendly and the most literal, easy to get, in-your-face lyrics of the entire album. They're, in Gaga's words, the weed to the heroine of each album lol. Ugh her mind:bradley:

I think it was a very clever choice. SL is that type of pop song that the GP just loves to hear from Gaga. It got us excited but it didn't really reveal that much about the album itself, which I think makes the choice rational.

i was born this way, baby

If ROM was the lead single and SL was the second single, it would have been a bigger hit.
