As much as they want aslong as the record label is willing to pay, if not then the artist can pay for it. Depending on how good an album does, generally speaking most artists release 3-4 singles. But if you're signed to a major label and you're just like "yeah I wanna release all of the songs off my album as singles" the likelihood the label would allow that is pretty much zero.
