Surprised no one has mentioned Drake yet. His breakout single "Best I Ever Had" came out in 2009.

agree with most above, also p!nk who just got earned 400 million box office from touring, nicki minaj who just scored her first no.1, alicia keys who disappeared from charts but are still active here and there via talk shows, ceremonies, youtuber collabs.

I don't think selena is that relevant anymore. She got a no.1 a few months ago but it's more like the "song precede singer" circumstance...

She's very local but yes she's relevant. She got her first no. 1 single last year and her third consecutive no. 1 album this year. Without tour bundles too. She doesn't go on tour because she doesn't know how to sing but I still love her.

Lady Gaga doesn't owe us anything

Gaga and Beyonce remain very successful and have ever growing cultural pull even if their peaks are behind them, albeit to a different degree, Taylor is just very recently starting to "decline" and Rihanna is just doing whatever she does lmao. They are imo, the 4 that came out the best. A decade or more into their careers and are still genuinely doing very, very well. ASIB and Shallow were massive cultural moments, Lemonade was very big, Taylor is still churning out hits, and Rihanna is beloved. There are others like Katy who still are very much public figures and have media buzz, but they aren't super relevant. I love Katy, but I can't remember the last time someone irl mentioned her. She is more or less a legacy artist at this point, which is FINE and EXPECTED over a decade into your career. What more does she have to prove? It's only a handful of artists who have these 12+ year long careers of continually great sales and relevance. The 4 I mentioned first will be legends and will remain beloved into their 60s and 70s ala Cher, Madonna, Elton etc.
