During the night but it's not far behind and has a huge lead over #3

Do you think the #1s it lost (Germany, Aus, UK) are all from promo effect and it can regain them - or is the artist in germany someone who will have a big hit?

Stare at the Chartster in the mirror they talk to me too. #StreamFunTonight

This is obviously very biased. You're choosing to see the humanity in the Gaga x Ariana collab and chalking everything Beyonce does to her being a businesswoman hungry for a #1. You could easily flip this and talk about how all of the proceeds for the Savage remix go to Covid-19 charities and then talk about how Gaga can't get a solo-hit on her own so she needs to call Ariana Grande to help her. Now, that wouldn't be a true statement about Gaga, but it's also not a true statement about Beyonce.

Beyonce's top 5's for the last decade

Telephone ft Lady Gaga

Mi gente ft J balvin (remix)

Perfect Duet ft Ed Sheeran (remix)

Savage ft Megan (remix)

It's very clear she can't get a hit with her own work so she needs to jump on other's people.

A Remix act ...

All Gaga's hits have been her OWN songs and not some quick little remixes jumping on the last second to get credited...so yes they are light years from each other when it comes to the ability to make and write hit songs.

It’s 48m on YouTube.  I wish it would pick up pace a bit more, it’s #29 trending in the UK.

Promo because he's a judge on The Voice and his song is spammed on radio. Similar in UK.

Rain on Me has been moved up 6 places to #32 on HHUK. Seems a bit pointless but a jump is a jump I guess.

COVID-19 by nature was not planned so having an artist jump on a song already commercially succesful and donate to COVID further strengthens the idea that it is opportunistic

This is craaaaaazy. :saladga:

Let's try it again. You talked about how the collab is genuine because Ariana and Gaga are both successful Italian women who have experienced a lot of strife while touring. You could just as easily say the same thing about Megan and Beyonce both being black women from Texas. This is biased.

It doesn't matter if Beyonce was on the original track or not. Ariana wasn't originally on Rain On Me, as evidenced by the demo. It doesn't matter if the moment when they agreed to do the collab was before the release or after. The Savage remix is materially different than the original version of the song, it's not like this is a rent-a-rapper situation.

One more thing I want to stress is that whether or not the collabs are "genuine" or not means nothing to me as it applies to this discussion. My only point in any of this is that it is hilarious to me that after months of Lady Gaga fans saying that Beyonce needs to hop on some one else's song to have a hit (which is simply not true, as evidenced by her tremendous success with the singles from Lemonade in spite of the fact that they were limited to a single premium streaming platform) that she could potentially block Gaga's collaboration with the biggest female artist of the streaming era. I don't care if she actually does, I would be tremendously happy if Rain On Me went #1, but it's interesting that after such a long time of monsters discounting Beyonce's power that they finally must regard her as competition this week.
