After thought to be extinct, the Great Bustard was rediscovered in Romania

After many decades of uncertainty, there is proof that the Great Bustard is indeed breeding in Romania. 

Classified as a globally vulnerable species, the great bustard has experienced an overwhelming decline following the fragmentation of its former habitats - the Eurasian steppe. By the mid-1950s, it had disappeared from most of Europe. This was also the case in Romania, where, following nationalization, the meadows were plowed and transformed into agricultural crops.

In the 19th century there were stable populations in areas of Transylvania and Moldavia. However, according to the official records from 1988, there were only 48 bustards left in Romania. After 1990, the Great Bustard was considered extinct in Romania.

Now, it appears that the bird maintained a last stronghold in the Western region of Romania. According to the field observations of the Milvus Group, there is a small cross-border population of around 40 individuals, whose habitat extends past the Hungarian border.

The highly important photo was taken by Ioan Matiu Jr., a student of veterinary medicine after he found the nest by accident.

she's real, she has a family and actually they left Loch Ness, she's not there anymore, they pretty much need to give up on that place

Actually.... when I was a kid one old guy gave me a huge scare about pigeon sh!t. The Luna Park came to my hometown and I was watching people riding ring'n'spiel and was looking into the sky and one guy that had a store nearby noticed me looking and pulled me aside to tell me how a pigeon could poo into my eyes and I can get blind and from that day on I have a flying turd trauma.
