Ever wondered how Gaga wrote and composed Bad Romance?

I still think that it is still one of the greatest pop songs ever recorded. And I can’t help but to think how did they write this masterpiece? The melody, the lyrics, the iconic “rah-rah-rah” and the “ohhh” part. As a songwriter myself, I don’t think I could write a pop song as good and as timeless as this.

I think there are many better pop songs than Bad Romance out there. Bad Romance is too much of a word salad.

I think you’re making it more difficult than it really is. I’ve heard many demos that were composed of mostly “la-la-la” and whatnot. I think she just played around with it and made it more interesting than just la-la, obviously with ra ra’s and gaga’s and ooh-la-la’s. It’s just a more advanced version of that concept.

RedOne was the one who came up with “rah-rah-rah”. The demo version had the lyrics "ma-ma-ma''.

The genius of Bad Romance and The Fame Monster was that she wasn't even trying to make something great. It just came to her while she was touring. Remember The Fame Monster was originally supposed to be a reissue of The Fame, these songs were simply bonus tracks.

Imagine the height of your debut album and you're randomly writing songs and have to choose one or some that's going to further promote your album.

Now imagine that these songs would end up so good that they were worthy to be included as their own body of work. What was supposed to be a fun recording sessions to further promote her top selling debut album wound up being some of the best material she ever came up with.

She wasn't even trying to top herself with a sophomore album, it just happened!

It was probably RedOne. Hence why she hasnt released a song as good as Bad Romance ever since.

In my opinion, Bad Romance is the greatest pop song of the 21st century. No one else in the past 20 years has made a song as impressive as this one. The vocals, the lyrics, the production, the melodies, the hooks... it all works so well. Even more than 11 years later, I still frequently listen to Bad Romance.

Gaga needs to work with RedOne again (Scheiße is also a masterpiece). It's such a shame it didn't work out this time around with Chromatica, but I'm hopeful the new album will include songs that will become just as iconic.

The composition is actually pretty simple if you’ve listened to a lot of popular eurodance

the beat, the gibberish hook, the synths

Boney M influence too.

But BR is more than just a few things thrown together. It's in the beauty of how it all works so well together.

OGHs exposing themselves seamlessly in this thread huh :billie:. Bad Romance is her magnum opus and the thing is, no one could’ve sung the song but her. She completely owns it. Truly a masterpiece.

Does it matter? Damage is done

For years I’ve always wanted more insight into her creative process, for literally anything, but especially for her work from TF to TFM to BTW.

It seemed like she was incredibly involved in the overall creation of each record, in every step and process. Co-producers even substantiated those claims, too.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall during those times.

3 points in and ready for more
