NewUsername 11,344
The rules layed out here seem very 'normal' for a big label and big artist, I'd say. I know we have percentages of the royalties to the writers and producers of the songs, but any word on how much Interscope gets? Like we know eg that for MTN Gaga earns 65% of the royalties that go to [GROUP: writers and producers], but what percentage is that in comparison of how much the label gets? The average the artist takes home is 12%, I read.

Her royalties have changed a bit through various amendments and for specific albums, but initially: it was 15-17% depending on the performance and which album # it was. In 2009 it was amended to be 16% and then later 17%. A 2012 Amendment seemed to change that to 22% for the US and Canada, but that only applied to BTW and after. I don't think Interscope's cut will be mentioned at all because that gets into their own business dealings and their contracts with other companies. When it comes to writers and producers, I believe Gaga would get 65% of the 22% pool, not 65% overall. I did see a document that stated Interscope makes either 4 or 5 times what Gaga makes off of her, but I've seen so many documents and can't think of the specific language to look it up by. Another document mentioned Interscope making around $232million I believe.

Gaga made $58 million of gross royalties as of June 2015 while they estimated Interscope made $232 in royalties.

They finance all her projects and use their connections in order to manufacture, distribute, and promote her work. It's not something she could replicate to scale by herself unless she has deep pockets and that creates a reliance on the label. It doesn't help that Gaga owed them money. 4 minutes ago, MANiCURE 6 said: It's tragic.

She would also need to build a lot of connections in order to be successful. All these documents just show how much work is involved in her career. ProfessionalClown 10,646
Honestly, seems very very frustrating but not a bad contract honestly. Seems like there a lot more creative freedom and with interscope knowing her power in the music scene, could probably allow her to do a lot more. Every music video must play homage to Baphoment and all live performances must clearly allude to the duality. It's actually not really in there, but I'm concerned that the hackers didn't leak that part. Either that or I made it up, but why would I do that? yep. im waiting for the spirit cooking docs and contracts w marina ♥ Kindness Police.
