He has a minority govt rn and it's rare for a PM to come back stronger after losing so many seats Well, his dad did. He didn't lose that many seats, and he has a minority so strong that he'll probably serve out a full four-year term, which is pretty rare in itself. Polls have shown if an election were to be held right now, he'd get an even bigger majority than his first term. With both the Tories and the NDP in shambles right now, who's going to challenge him in 2023? And it's not even clear whether he'll run for a third term. He's already grooming Freeland to take over once he steps down. He just doesn't seem like the type of person to want to hold onto power indefinitely. Won't be surprised at all if he retires after this term.

More and more is coming out that the US may have overreacted as SARS2 was here since last November and it would have peaked in March/April anyway. There is also a study about to be published that some people DO have immunities from being infected with other like Coronaviruses. Everyone sh!t all over Sweden - and while they did experience higher than normal deaths - it’s still less than countries that locked down and f*cked their economy. The poor and vulnerable are potentially going to be more hurt and never recover from this lock down. If countries want to do something meaningful to protect us in the future we should all sanction China NOW as this is 100% their fault. NOT Chinese PEOPLE - the corrupt communist regime. It is a bad faith argument to reduce this to “greedy businessman” speaking for myself my job is fine and will be fine. I’m not a 1%er by any means but I certainly fall in the “well off category” as do all my close friends and peers - and it makes me really pissed off as a (possibly former now) leftist to see those people abandon the working class and poor over a false sense of safety from a virus that hasn’t changed it’s death rate since March. The worst part? This has ignited a new culture war that will cause Trump to easily win in November. I think it's in bad faith to assume that vulnerable populations should have to sacrifice their lives so that corporations meet their bottom lines. The economy will recover once we weather the storm, but coming out early from this is only going to cause more death & cause more damage to the economy when we inevitably have to go back into quarantine because of outbreaks. But we do have testing and contact tracing. It’s like people keep saying we don’t - so that they don’t have to be wrong. 🤔 No one is saying they need to sacrifice their lives - it’s like you ignored everything else I said. The death rate HAS NOT CHANGED. I don’t give a sh!t about corporations. But I care about PEOPLE and them being able to put food on the table. America does not have the social safety net for this and we never will if Trump and other Republicans keep getting elected. Which is exactly what this lock down is going to cause. When we have to go BACK into quarantine? Sis we aren’t coming out. So that’s a flawed argument. The economy will recover? Sure. But it will take YEARS!! Some parts of America never recovered from 2008 FFS. This is how we ended up with Trump and liberals are handing him over the White House once again.
