Agree: Also, I kind of hate this tendency to go "what about Gaga" when ever anyone addresses something problematic on here or even is slightly critical of non-problematic things. Bringing her in is unnecessary 95% of the time in these cases.

I edited my reply out to try and keep it cute, but exactly. It’s a losing game convincing some of these people to pull their heads out of the sand to get real with what’s really going on.

1. You could be a little more polite and not a disrespectful brat. This is an opinion board where people are allowed to give their opinion so no, i won't shut the **** up.

2. I don't understand the difference here. Gaga has apologized and so has Shane. He has talked about this countless times. So why can you excuse Gaga for what she did and not Shane?

One time on here I tried to discuss how it's possible to think there are flaws with cancel culture AND also address issues like racism, misogyny, anti-semitism, etc. and it didn't go so well lol. Some turn everything into an either/or situation on here.

I was so disappointed in Jeffree. As bad as it was, I thought he apologized and changed and he had been in his late teens/early 20s...and then all that racist sh*t came out from like last year :(.

They’re both just so annoying and narcissistic, also I love how non POC are saying to “forgive and move on” like... That’s not up to you to decide

And they haven’t even done any contributions that support other POC through organizations, etc. They don’t care whether their actions were wrong or not, they just care whether we forgive them or not that way their business/reputation doesn’t get tarnished.

A white person cant forgive another person who does blackface or said the N word because it doesn’t and will never affect them... sure we can all choose to cancel someone for doing so but it holds no merit if you’re of the same race (mainly white) as the person doing it. Only black people, other POC, LGBTQ+ etc. who have actual terms used against them can choose to forgive or cancel someone for saying or doing something that negates said community(ies).

I'm talking about the practicalities of cancelling someone. I'm saying that if the community victimised by the statements don't choose to forgive and try to 'cancel' someone, they aren't necessarily cancelled if others don't follow suit
