I think she really killed all the hype for her with the droplet era, this single isn’t a big deal to anyone because she’s been consistently releasing music for the past year, each time with less and less hype. She should have taken a year off and come back with NRO as the lead.

For comparison, Never Worn White got 10M views in its first 24 hours (probably 'cause in the video she announced her pregnancy) and Never Really Over something like 15M.

The issue is that it's like all of Katy's recent single releases. It's a cute bop, yes, but it's nothing smashing or groundbreaking. She needs to hire a new team.

Doesn't matter. It played a massively pivotal role in rebuilding her career and image with the GP. That was my point. Katy's next album probably won't even sell half as much as Joanne, if we're going by commercial performance this past year. And I can't see her successfully pulling off a course corrective album like Joanne. I wouldn't have called Joanne a flop in its respective era either. It did better than a lot of people, as did ARTPOP (i.e Miley was the biggest popstar in 2013 and I think ARTPOP & Bangerz have sold around the same). When Gaga lacks, she's often competitive with everyone else - she's just not reaching the sales she did early on in her career. Her sales have decreased since her first album and she's always been competing with herself. Katy's career is in trouble 😔😔

I think it's just that the video isn't anything special? It's pretty and cute, and defiantly full of love, but it's not something I'm gonna be running back too to watch over and over like some of her other videos. (Katy has always had amazing videos, I think she just wanted to do something cute and meaningful with this one)

Even I didn't predict numbers would be this low. This is appalling for someone with 37 million subscribers. Her decay year by year is so bad it's actually scary. Not since Jessie J have I seen a popular singer fall from relevancy so quickly from one era to the next. Here we are, from the beginning of her career to now:

People talk about how Witness is when all the problems started but I started noticing it all the way back with Unconditionally. To come off an era like TD, lead with a single like Roar and then not even go top ten with your follow-up single was a sign of trouble ahead for this era and my instinct proved right with Dark Horse being the only other song that was remotely a hit. I knew Prism was going to be less successful but not like this. I knew she'd be lucky to get two top tens with Witness and I was right. But even I didn't predict a decay this bad. This is stuff that should be studied.

She also has over 37 million YouTube subscribers, almost as many as Taylor and Ariana (and they actually get hits), which is the most shocking thing of all. This is proof positive that she has fake followers, it's official. I'd also be willing to bet that most of those YT subscribers were from years ago, have since stopped being fans but haven't been bothered to unsubscribe. Despite her continually losing commercial success year on year, she consistently gains roughly 100k subscribers a week. It makes absolutely no sense that she gains so many new fans who aren't supporting her unless they're faked. It makes me annoyed that this kinda stuff makes Gaga's 15.8 million subscribers look bad when we know those are genuine figures. She can only gain subscribers when she's on an era and she's gaining success, Katy's been gaining 100k a week even in the latter stages of Witness and all throughout 2019 up until the present. It's clear what's going on.

Thanks for that as it didn't debut until 5am where I live, so I won't know what the stats were unless they're made public. I don't know what her likes were but I didn't click on this video until about 3:30pm UK time today and it said 297k likes, so maybe it was around 275k likes by the 24 hour mark? I predicted it would be around 325k at least, so I was shocked. NWW got 10.5 million views in 24 hours, by the way. How can that video released just 2 months ago get so much more attention, views and likes than this one? It's almost as if...gimmicks are the only thing people are interested in. Now they've seen her pregnancy, what else can she do to surprise us in a video? I never thought I'd see the day where Katy Perry would be naked in a music video and it would be getting barely any views and nobody would be talking about it, but here we are.

Didn’t someone say she has like 20-30% of fake/inactive accounts or something following her? Even her announcement tweet or tweets in general do oddly low numbers. Also the fact this video did just under 3 million viewers in 24 hours. Oof.
