I really wish her the best because she seems nice but she didn’t build an artistic legacy to “afford” a stripped back album. This is the lead right? For years since Witness they’ve been afraid to stick to something. They’ve been trying to see what sticks and focus grouping stuff. I hope that they won’t reformulate if this flops. That cycle’s been already in motion and usually is not fruitful and kills a career. Just release and let it go like what Mariah did with Charmbracelet. Then after that come back with a reinvention and a modern sound like what TEOM was. This is subjective and probably on me but Katy’s voice just makes the song old. I don’t know why. I like her, but I’m underwhelmed with what she’s been putting out. I watched half of the new video & I was bored with it / the actual song. She set her own standard when she did Teenage Dream - Prism followed its success quite well but Witness was a hot mess. Since then, her releases haven’t really made an impact.
