When you are born into a specific culture/religion/education, you never have 100% of choice, you have an idea that was forced on you since you were born.

Even when you're given a choice, you know that your family and the community wants you to go through a certain way and if you don't you will disappoint them, you may face social distancing and other things.

So no matter how much you can say that they have a choice, it's a false choice.

You need to live it to understand it.

As a Bi guy born into a family with lots of homophobic people — I literally said **** them, I don’t want people like that in my life. I cut out family who berated me, even though it disappointed them. Not much of a false choice to distance myself from close-minded family members, I’d like to think...

We just need to always remember that each person is individual and not everyone has that strength, if all had that strength, maybe more people would be happy and free to be who they want to be.

Also, how can you even compare face masks during a pandemic that literally save lives to the burka? The burka is a symbol of oppression and submission that is usually enforced by dominating males in the society. 

Nobody even mentions how some actual Islamic countries also have restrictions on the burka. The double standard amazes me.

It’s kind of the intent though. One helps protect you from a virus, the other is a symbol of religious oppression.

Masks are mandatory only on public transport, not everywhere in public.

Spreading kindness and unity means giving women equals rights and not forcing them to cover their bodies tho

And I totally agree. As a Muslim myself I 100% do not agree with forcing women to do anything. As do most westernized Muslims. 

The stereotypes used against Muslims paint us to be horrible people and give people an excuse to make us the prime target for slander and violence
