They don't need to have muscles because they have superpowers. He has none. He's Batman, he trained both intelectually and physically his whole life to avenge his parents' death. He has the technology to support him, but there's a huge physical demand for him. If Robert Pattinson was playing Superman or Green Lantern (idk someone who has super powers) he could be the fattest guy on earth, and I'd totally support him. But he's playing someone who has no abilities and had to build himself up. This sounds like regular thoughtless SJW talk. So by that you mean the only thing that makes you a strong person is the way you look? Excuse me but no. Let’s talk condition as example. Wich is important in a fight or in a chase for batman for example. I’m a overweight yet I have a much better condition the my sister who only does muscle training Also we talk about a movie. Movies should be here to escape from reality so why is there even a problem. SwissMonster®️ - Creating controversy since 1999
elijahfan 26,490
Quite frankly, we've already had so many different iterations of Batman... So what? We're gonna have a skinny superhero this time? ****ing here for it. Batman uses gadgets, technically he doesn't necessarily need to be ripped. SwissMonster 29,120
Honestly I’m shook at how many of you don’t have any fantasy, creative or open mind. Doesn’t mean that something is given at one point that it has to stay like this. Be open for new things and don’t stick with one idea. Hermion Granger is played by a black woman in the Harry Potter and the cursed child play. The next 007 is a woman. Would you react the same way? Maybe, maybe not. But as I said Pictures are an artistic craft and I think art has no limits. SwissMonster®️ - Creating controversy since 1999

"I think if you're working out all the time, you're part of the problem," Pattinson, who stars as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Matt Reeves' upcoming movie, said in a new cover story for the June/July 2020 issue of GQ magazine. "You set a precedent," Pattinson said of fellow actors. "No one was doing this in the '70s. Even James Dean — he wasn't exactly ripped," he added, referring to the late actor who was known for roles in "East of Eden" and "Rebel Without a Cause." Pattinson was in the middle of filming Reeves' movie (now scheduled for release on October 1, 2021) when production was halted in early 2020, due to the spread of the coronavirus. With filming on pause indefinitely, the 33-year-old actor said that he's not focused on staying in shape for his superhero role. GQ senior staff writer Zach Baron, who interviewed Pattinson, also noted that the trainer hired by Warner Bros. to work with the star gave him a Bosu ball and a weight. But Pattinson has used neither. "Literally, I'm just barely doing anything," the "Tenet" star said, explaining that Zoë Kravitz, who plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the upcoming film, has been working out five days per week while home. https://www.insider.com/robert-pattinson-exercise-quarantine-the-batman-workout-interview-2020-5 How more wrong can he be? You're an actor playing a superhero, it's your job to look the part, he's not taking this seriously. And of course actors from the 70s didn't do this, they didn't play superheroes, James Dean never played a superhero in a DC comic movie. Rationalizing not working out for some sort of 'human right' is just weird. Sure in real life everyone should do whatever they want, but you're an actor bruh, playing the freaking Batman Well... What does his body look like right now?

That's why I like Bales Batman so much. But whoever plays Batman should be ripped at the peak of physical health. I happen to like The Flash TV because he is skinny but his powers don't come from being physically superior to his enemies. He was granted super human speed. I actually like the choice of Flash for the TV and Spiderman for the movies. I don't think those heroes need to be huge or physically show alot of muscle. But Batman has no powers at all and trained pretty much his entire life to be Batman. There's obviously still a long way to go, but I think we're going in the right direction. The rise of new sex symbols like Timothée Chalamet for example is a really good thing: I remember when I watched Call Me By Your Name for the first time, it really shook me to see a skinny male body shot as a desirable object, it really reconciled me with my own body. I didn't realize it before, but seeing yourself up on a screen is so important.

DiskoBaby 1,929
If Robert Patterson decides not to look like the ideal Batman, it will be audience goers and fans that'll decide if the movie is worth it. Comic book fans are ruthless and they will let it flop if he's not the ideal Batman.

Like they fall down 20 floors but don’t die. But the only unrealistic thing everyone sees is his cardio? Yeah but it's a movie based on a character that has over thirty years of material to pull from. Slacker couch potato Batman has never been in a comic. Work out and train everyday is who Batman is. Superheros back then was also very low budget and they didn't do the kinds of stunts or fighting that's expected from superhero movies now. Superheros now look more accurate now and they do things in movies that wasn't possible before because of technology.
