why do you think Chromatica is constantly advertised as LG6? Because TFM was LG2.

Or because Cheek To Cheek was LG4 :trollga:

Yeah Gaga herself always considered TFM to be a stand alone album, not an EP

Yes, we all consider The Fame Monster to be this huge standalone album era.

However, it is safer for Wikipedia to consider The Fame Monster an EP because technically it was never issued by Interscope as a STUDIO ALBUM. In some countries it was available as a 8-track EP, while in other territories it was available as a deluxe edition with The Fame.

Let's take the Billboard charts for example. On the week of December 12, 2009, we have:
#5 (NEW) The Fame Monster (EP)
#6 (+28) The Fame
Why the big jump of The Fame? Because all the sales of the deluxe edition of The Fame Monster were counted for The Fame, while the sales for the 8-track EP were counted as an EP.

Let's take the Austrian, German, Irish, Mexican, Spanish, Swiss and UK Charts for example. What do they all have in common? The Fame Monster never technically charted there. Even if you bought the deluxe edition of the album, all the sales were counted as for The Fame.

See, it may all seem very confusing and complicated, that's why it's safer and better to consider The Fame Monster an EP strictly for Wikipedia.

I wonder why it isn’t labelled as EP by digital platforms tho. Was there a change along the years. Like if you search for iTunes Soho Albums on Apple Music the only ones that have EP labels are those with 6 live performances. But those with 8 doesn’t have the -EP mark. Can we use that as a basis

Yall should do no fixing, its the right way, TFM is technically an EP, so stop please. They have more than enough job without needing to revert your edits

Technically it can be considered an LP, in both the US and UK at least. An EP is classified as a maximum of 25 minutes and no more than 4 tracks according to the UK official chart company, and 3-5 song and under 30 minutes by RIAA in the US which TFM outweighs both

You get it all wrong, its not about counting how many songs are on the album. Its about what sources say, and that's how Wikipedia decide this stuff.

Gaga herself said its an EP, and they use her words as the source: http://www.mtv.com/news/1626134/lady-gaga-is-honoring-fans-with-cheaper-fame-monster/

"In the midst of my creative journey composing The Fame Monster, there came an exciting revelation that this was in fact my sophomore album," she said in a statement. "I would not add, nor take away any songs from this EP. It is a complete conceptual and musical body of work that can stand on its own two feet. It doesn't need The Fame."

So yes, it is a studio album, but it is in EP format.

Also Kesha released Cannibal EP with 9 tracks.

I don't get it all wrong, I was just sharing data from official chart sources stating that it technically qualifies as an album, not just an EP. I know that other artists have released bodies of work of equal or longer length which are still considered EPs, I was just getting into the specifications, and I get where you're coming from :)

Lady Polonia

In Poland The Fame Monster was released as a standalone LP which reached No. 1 here and sold over 100,000+ PHYSICAL copies which granted it Diamond certification (which is really, really rare in PL). In my opinion The Fame Monster can be putted into Studio Albums section as well as to leave it on EPs section. Besides that we should really update her sales numbers on EN Wikipedia + adding respective sources to it.

If Chromatica is LG6 then Cheek To Cheek is LG4. Nevertheless, I'm 100% for the idea to create COLLABORATIVE ALBUMS sections on her discography and to put CTC there.

After these changes She will have:
5 Studio Albums (The Fame, BTW, ARTPOP, Joanne, Chromatica)
1 Collaborative Album (Cheek To Cheek)
1 Soundtrack Album (ASIB Soundtrack)
4 EPs (The Fame Monster and 3 minor releases)
2 Remix Albums (The Remix, BTW: The Remix)
3 Video Albums (TFM: Video EP, Monster Ball at Madison Square Garden, CTC Live!)
1 Compilation Album (The Singles)

vanish into you 🥀🖤

whore

This discussion is tired, The Fame Monster is a reissue of The Fame. The bonus tracks were released as a stand-alone extended play. It’s not that difficult to grasp.

She made it it’s own era because she was at the pinnacle of her success. That’s the entire reason a reissue was issued in the first place, her debut was a widely successful album. Yes it had its own unique visuals and concept but that was more of a buffer between The Fame and Born This Way

Didn’t gaga also say something about it not being an EP tho? She was like this is a stand-alone album blah blah something like that?

Pretty confusing cause Lil Kim released 9 and it’s a studio album by wiki. I guess you’re right maybe if gaga mouthed more often that it’s studio album then wiki would’ve considered it

Yes! Prior to TFM release she stated this was her second album, I think it was on German tv
