Older females: Missy Elliott, Kylie Minogue, Lil Kim (features don't count and Lady Marmalade was shared), Nicole Scherzinger, Martina McBride, Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morrissette, Bjork. I'm also amazed that it took some huge, young names like Taylor, Ariana and Selena years to get their first #1. Having a young fanbase doesn't always get you everything.
